I'm willing to bet that you would have almost the same mixed feelings in every city
maybe not for the same reasons, but just Google around and even the most progressive cities have a large contingent of people that absolutely hate the scooters

Show some hard stats that traffic has decreased and that the reason is because of these scooters and then you'll have an argument.

What pisses me off is that we have to live with the inconvenience of dumbasses riding on side walks, and holding up traffic. Dallas isnt built to be a pedestrian city. Especially when people think that laws dont have to be followed.
Insurance rates are going to start getting affected cause who is going to get blamed the driver or the scooter rider??
City needs to tax per each scooter at minimum. Cost of doing business.

Yeah crusty old idiots and people who want their share of the revenue. Like I said, the whole drop them off and hope for the best thing was definitely not the best strategy, but for any area with a traffic problem or walking population these have been a net positive

I dont need to look shite up. I've lived/worked in the Uptown/Dowtown area for over 10 yrs. Native Dallasite.
So yeah...Bull fricking shite to them being a net positive in any way for locals.

Sometimes the risks/cons outweigh the "benefits."
I'd say less than 5% of people actually used them how they were intended to be used. Example, getting from point A to point B that may be a significantly long walk. The other 95% used and abused them in every way possible. Until there are some rules and regulations that can be enforced, these have no business being on the streets of Lafayette.
