Pros: connects the main places people come from with the main places people want to go

Cons: overly ambitious.
The blue line is completely unnecessary and likely doubles the cost of the project.
Too many stops on the yellow line. That makes it too slow to be practical. Based on that route, I see no reason why there should be more than like 4 to 6 stops total. The main people using this will be tourists and business travelors.

It would provide fast, efficient transportation throughout the NOLA metro.

cons

It would be run by New Orleans city officials and would come in 300% over budget after the most corrupt local politicians in the nation got involved. There would be federal racketeering charges placed on the administrators/mayor's office within a year of it opening. You'd be better off letting a group of Afghani warlords run this operation.

There's really no reason for this thread to continue

Who wants to take a tram from Kenner through the west bank to get downtown?

Wankers? People from Westwego, Marrero, Harvey, Gretna, and Algiers?

Right, but how would that route benefit the people upstream of them? It just seems like a really roundabout way of getting downtown.

If anything shorten the blue line to start on the Wank and then go from there.

I think that the use of the blue line would be geared more for local use. Wankers going to the airport or going to downtown.

The yellow line would be both locals and visitors.

Lines down Elysian Fields, Claiborne and a st charles to Claibourne spur down napoleon would all be nice.

I would only do the Blue Line much later down the road if the Yellow line is successful and market studies show a need for it. Just don't see the need.

The Yellow line would be a big help for the city.

Not a bad way to go. Do the yellow first, then add later.

Yeah the traffic getting from MSY can be a bitch at times. I bet a lot of people would like this option

Also agree with reducing the amount of stops.

Maybe Clearview, Causeway, Old Metairie (although I bet the Old Metry residents would fight that tooth and nail), Carrollton, Union.

I'd consider using it, that's for sure.

Just have someone pick me up at Carrollton instead of having to bring me to and from the Airport.

Exactly, plus you can leave your car at home and not pay to park at the airport.

Also, I think that if they had large parking lots at the stops along I10 at Clearview/Vets or wherever they decided to put the stations then a lot of people that commute to downtown from that direction would take the train to and from work. This could alleviate some of the traffic problems.

Yellow line stops are all near hotel-clusters. You've got hotels on Williams and I-10, Veterans, Clearview, Causeway. Old Metairie, it appears to be following the interstate, yes? Where on the Interstate do the tracks go? If that's the case Old Metairie has nothing to complain about unless it goes right down the center of Metairie road with horns blowin and lights flashin'

There are more hotels along the West Bank Expressway, now, national chains, not just the ol' Bon Soir in Westwego. How does it cross the river? Does it get its own lane on the Crescent City Connection? How do these things not get destroyed by the freight trains or get around them on the Huey P. Long?

The railroad right of way still exists next to Airline....running it to Union Station is a winner, can it be built electrified, elevated, and using existing rights of way

Elected officials family member's civil firm will be rewarded with several million in funds for studies

Cons:

I don't understand why they don't encourage more flights to the Lakefront airport. Way more convenient to downtown. Yes I realize that it can't handle big planes but a lot of these cheap tourist-oriented airlines just operate puddle jumpers anyway.
