Remote start and enjoy your coffee while the situation resolves itself. Maximum efficiency.

Frankly, I don't know why people don't do this.
I was told it can damage the springs in the wiper arm. Maybe it's BS, but the source is my Dad who worked in the auto business for over 30 years.

Credit cards work in a pinch to get ice off. I’ve lived in Illinois way too long….

What about putting a towel or blanket over your windshield. I've always done this with frost and it works great.
Good move. Nowadays everyone has Amazon cardboard.
Fastest way possible.

Remote start is a blessing on cold winter mornings and hot summer afternoons
Apparently my truck battery is elderly and told my remote start to frick off this morning.

You should have an ice scraper. I have one because even around here you need it a few times each winter.
Scrape, defrost, go.
Scrape, defrost, go.

Can a remote start be added to a vehicle?

Pretty sure it can...

The only bad thing about it is if someone falls from a chopper or plane and lands on the wipers, they could get impaled...

More for ice. The snow will melt and refreeze, sticking the wipers to windshield.
So, yes.
So, yes.

It's BS on anything made in the last 20 years or so. GMs anyway. They are designed to stay up on their own.
Just letting the defrost do it's thing won't get the ice off the blades themselves, causing them to not wipe correctly.

How some of you survive day to day is absolutely amazing to me

All motherfrickers are acting like we are about to turn into Alaska.

Lived in WI for over 20 years and have never done this. Just let your car warm up for 15-20 minutes with the defroster on. That will melt any ice on the wipers.
Isn't this cause of climate change?

Sometimes the snow will melt and refreeze your wiper blades to the windshield if it snows while you're out. Otherwise, just warm your car up.

We do that up here in Iowa.

I predict windshield shops will be busy down there.

If ice or slush, yes, if dry no
