2000 wasnt bad at all in general. Seems like another world.

Nobody had any idea what kind of shite show we'd get just a few months later.

The early 2000s were so good we didn't even take them for granted back then. Especially after 9/11 when everyone was high on Americana. It blasted through 04 and started declining at the start of election season ahead of 2008.

Facebook and Twitter started being a big thing around 2007-2008. I would say those 2 items almost single handedly started the major downfall for America and people started being more about themselves rather than a community, not to mention being a vehicle for tribal esq ignorant followings of whomever posts the most crap.

Loved that song. “From the Lou and I’m proud” works for La too.

“My grammar bees ebonics, gin and tonics and chronics”

The Longest Yard propelled him to fame. He made some pretty good singles for that film

Not only that but they started playing it at proms and homecoming dances

I remember hearing Cupid Shuffle, Wobble, and Hear Comes the Boom at all of the homecoming dances in HS. 2000s rap songs were pretty much party songs that were meant to be listened to by large crowds of people in social environments. They’re terrible songs for listening to by yourself but they were awesome to listen to at social gatherings

The Nellyville album in 2002 was lit! I was just out of high school and there were many tracks that would enhance the bass in the car. Ahh the good old days.

True story: I know a guy in the music business that used to work with Nelly's team a lot to book his tours. Guy is not, shall we say, fully straight. Known around his circles he likes the pole as much as the hole.

ETA:

But man, he put out some bangers when I was in high school and college

Still hear Nelly all the time here in StL. He's our greatest contribution to pop culture in the last 25 years.

I'd say it was before the Beatles and Yesterday

When a man could still work, and still would
