you don't want your cities to look like this, don't become a Communist shithole.
Truth is, I feel bad for Russians, they don't know what life is like in a free society.
Seriously?
The city is the main mining town for a private mining company that is digging out the Precious metal to make the phone which you typed out that shitty post on. I don’t see any communism there

I met a guy with parents that lived in A Siberian mining city like this.
I remember one day I was talking to him complaining about the high 40's chill and he showed me a picture that had a lady standing in front of a building with a large digital thermometer on it.
Temp was -94c. F that.

From Norilsk's wiki page:

Not buying it. The thermometer must have been wrong or it maybe it meant F instead of C.
Anyone outdoors in a temperature like that would not be able to expose any skin. You wouldn't be able to tell whether it's a guy or a girl at all. You'd have to wear special gear to warm the air before you breathe it.

Cool post. Thanks for making me smarter-er.

Its possible. The official temp hete and the temp reaadings in surrounding pockets can be 10 degrees apart.

True. Satellite readings exist of temperatures around -95C. Those aren't considered to be as reliable as ground positioned and calibrated thermometers but you can get a reading from anywhere the satellite can see.
At any rate, it's thought to be reasonably likely that the temps have gotten down that low in Antarctica on a couple of mountains.
But I maintain that for a human to be outdoors you'd need to be wrapped up so much that you couldn't tell it was a lady. That specific pic is indeed

Hmm.
I could be remembering the wrong temp, but he was saying it's the coldest he's ever seen.
Damn.

It's not made up, just probably misremebering a five minute conversation from around a year ago.
It was probably -64 c
I just remember seeing it add thinking how in the hell can people do it. He just said there is a lot of money out there. Him and some friends pooled money working in Siberia, then moved to New Orleans, bought propery all over and live good.
Nice guys all in their 30's.
Own a lot of places in bad parts if mid city and the seventh ward, but also some apartments in Metairie.
I'm sorry I reported the wrong temp.
Looking at it I know it was colder than the fifties, but it wasn't a seven, so 60's, 80's, 90's or broken, it was russia.

No worries, just don't let it happen again.

This. I get so sick of the United States being blamed for the entire Earth's environmental degradation when there are parts of the former Soviet bloc that are completely inhabitable or totally destroyed. Look no further than the Aral Sea.

It’s also the hometown of Fran Stalinovskovichdavidovitchsky. Her nuclear power plant has won the dodgeball title for 10 years in a row.
