At 30 I was where I wanted to be, in the career I wanted, was a homeowner but not yet married and had no children.

I ask because I currently am 30 years old and honestly feel like I haven’t achieved much compared to my peers who are the same age. I have a decent life but wonder if I’m far behind in the race. This may be a silly question, but is 30 too young to have a mid-life crisis?

I did a complete career change at 33 when my wife got pregnant with our first child. I haven’t looked back and accomplished more in the last decade than I ever thought possible. Life is weird, just figure out what drives you and figure out how to make it work. Good luck!

I'm 23, working a job I enjoy that wasn't the job I went to school for. I'm not necessarily glad I didn't graduate college, but all things happen for a reason. I won't make 6 figures a year, but I'm happy. I get married in May. Life is becoming stressful because I'm transitioning into my next stage of life.

Don't compare yourself to others because no matter your age or your success, there will be someone far more progressed than you. Be grateful for what you have, for what you accomplished thus far, and learn to enjoy the simpler things.

The day I turned 30. I had only been married 2 months, renting a 2 BR in Nola, and I was working at the same job I got out of school in Prairieville making pretty good money.

Now I'm almost 33, own a home outside of Denver working for considerably more money, but cost of living in Denver is a tad bit hire so I don't notice it much.

Marriage, kids, mortgage, and career are not how you measure your life.

Or at least they shouldn't be.

Life was much better at 40 than it was at 30. Your still trying to figure shite out and impress people at 30. At 40 you're more comfortable with yourself and don't give a shite about what people think.

I went to get my haircut a couple of days after I turned 30 and the lady asked if I wanted my ears and eyebrows trimmed. I had never been asked that before. I just remember thinking to myself “I guess this is what my 30’s is going to be like.” At 30 I got engaged and now at 36 I have a great wife, two wonderful kids, and we both have careers we really enjoy. We plan on selling our house this summer and building on 10 acres we have out in the country. So far the 30’s are treating me pretty well.

Quite accurate in my case.

Stop comparing yourself. Theres ALWAYS someone better. ALWAYS. You'll never be "good enough

Comparing yourself to others is a good way to stunt personal growth.

Fun and busy
Nope, and still am not at 34
Nope, getting a second degree
Still not married
Yes

Eta: Go find some fun shite to do, and actually do it. Most people only think about stuff, but never go through with their plans. Focus on what you can do and do have, and not what you can't do and don't have.

I've also always made large goals for myself, and never quit until I achieve them. Even when life sucks balls, I just power through knowing I'll eventually win

32.. just got married in March of 2018. First son was born in July. Loved my job until a huge pay cut I got hit with in November. I've never really been the " who's who " or measuring dicks/bank accounts type guy. We have a great house in a really nice neighborhood but I drive an 06 POS truck and will probably drive it until it bites the dust. Life is short man. Enjoy the ride. If you want something , work hard and get it. Stop sometimes and just be grateful for what you do have.. i know what you mean though .. I've gotten in my own head too much before overthinking things about my life. " kinda hit me in my later 20s

Long before 30 I was married with a family and an undergrad degree, but I hadn't accomplished anything professionally. As I approached 40, I hit my creative and professional stride and accomplished nearly all of my life goals.

Hang in there. The more you age, the more confidence and urgency to accomplish you gain.

I had not achieved very much of what I wanted to achieve at age 30. I’m 40 now and in a much better place. I’m more content now than I’ve ever been. So, you’ll be alright baw. Don’t let the bastards get you down.

I turned 30 last month.

I have a wife, 2 kids, a house, and a job I love.

After checking all of those boxes, I had a mini crisis the day after I turned 30. Just over different stuff.

Seems like a birthday that forces you to take stock in your life, and most people want something changed. Doesn't seem odd to me, at least that is what I'm telling myself.

But I try not to compare my life to others, bc it isn't healthy.

At 28 I moved from small town North La to Houston with a degree and experience working construction part time while in college (so nothing).

Took a job making shite money but it was a start and I was inside and on my own.

Now that I look back I had it freaking made, no bills, an apartment, a nice car and zero responsibility after work.

Enjoy your life, once you get married with kids and a mortgage it's all stress stress stress

Against who? Are you happy? I have never married and don't want to. Don't have kids, don't want them. I don't compare my life to others, my father did that and he was miserable. I loved my life then and I love it now. Good luck

Don’t worry about the future or obsess about the past, just focus on what’s going on now and enjoy your life.
