What is the world coming to...

“We have witnessed first-hand the stress that overdue fines can cause for students,” Harvard administrator Steven Beardsley explained, even going so far as to declare that “Eliminating standard overdue fines…should help students focus on their scholarship, rather than worrying about renewing library books every 28 days in order to avoid fines.”

So return your fricking books on time.

You're at Harvard; this isn't rocket surgery.

I realize the older I get, the more I act like an old man...but damn, this is asinine. I'd like to blame the students, but the majority of the blame should go to the Administration.

I've been on the run since 1988. Mrs. Davis the librarian almost caught me in Fresno about 8 or so years ago. She'll never catch me and that copy of "the Mouse and the Motorcycle" is mine for good now.

The ability to meet a deadline is one of the most important things college students should be learning.

I don't blame the students. I blame the parents and teachers that have raised them to the point where they think this is a reasonable request for an adult to make.

We made some bullshite requests in high school and college. The answer was no and they gave that response without a blink.

Who thought something that is such a simple concept could be so complex?

What is worse, the pussies that can't get to the library on time or the fricking administrator that enables this bullshite?

They're going to be suicidal when they have to pay bills like an adult.

Just expel them all.

We now live in a world where doing something you're taught how to do in fricking elementary school is "too stressful" for ivy league college students.

Let that sink in

The fact this appears to be lost on them is frightening.

For kids these days...if adhering to expectations is causing any consternation whatsoever, the response "well, remove the expectations!", which couldn't be a worse way of handling it. How about they learn how to meet those expectations? Figure it out.

I wonder if it's more stressful that the gd book you need never getting returned because a .10 a day fine isn't levied.

Crybaby assholes.
