Sorry for your loss, but how old is your kid going to college?

Had to put our Australian Shepherd down last week. He got wrecked by some weird autoimmune disease. Carrying him into the vet’s office was awful. Cried like a little girl.

RIP Jovie, Ollie, and all the other good boys of the OT.

Hang in there...have had to do this 6 times over the course of my adult life(most recently in July) and it's tough as hell. At least with humans, they know what's going on. I wish we could really communicate with our beloved pets what they're going through in those final moments and how much they've affected our lives for the better.

I'm sorry for your loss. I hope you find peace in the fact that you gave Jovie the best life and that she loves you deeply because of it. Letting her go is your final act of service to her, and you will see her again.

Peace be with you. Rejoice in the 15 years you were allowed to have her bring joy into your home then, if it is time, send her back to her maker.

We just never get enough time with them.

Sorry to hear that. My pets are better than the vast majority of people I know.

Yea- our vet knew a recent one was struggling, and already hated car rides so she volunteered when we called about the situation.

Was so much more relaxed.

Still a little hard to pass the spot in the house, instead of leaving the baggage elsewhere…. But it was much better in the day and was a good choice for that pup for sure.

I’m so sorry. 15 years, you did something right, but it’s never long enough. Praying for peace and strength for you. She will see you again one day. I truly believe that.

So sorry and saddened to hear of your loss. Take comfort in knowing that the last thing your pet saw was you—and I’ve always been told that’s exactly what they want in their final moments.

It reminds me of a poem by Jimmy Stewart that speaks beautifully to that bond.

Sorry you are having to do this; I lost what was the dog for me and my family about a year and a half ago. Still think about her daily. Just do what's best for her and that's all you can do. Try to remember the good times.

It's a shitty thing they are only here for as short as they are in our lives.

Once again, we have a heartfelt post about losing a loved pet...and some a-hole downvotes it.

We had to put our 16 year old pup down a few weeks ago as well, was my first time having to do that and it was brutal. My wife and I have been together 15 years so that dog has been with us through every part of our adult lives. Dating, starting our careers, getting married, having a kid, our first and second houses. We buried him on our property and just got his headstone in yesterday

All of us who have had the pleasure and privilege of being dog owners knows what you're going through all too well.

We have said goodbye to 3 so far. All were heart-wrenching.

Love her all you can and take comfort in the fact that her pain will soon be gone. Remember the good times. I am certain there were too many to count.

Prayers for comfort and strength being sent your way.
