We've been training guys in that region on NATO shite for 40 years. Doubt they'll keep Blackhawks flying but field stripping and maintaining an M4 isn't very difficult. You can teach it in an afternoon.
We need to get in the Afghan bolt retaining pin market STAT

I knew it was going to happen for sure as soon as Lindsey Graham started repeating propaganda from the Pakistani ambassador.
I belive Jen Psaki was already hinting at it in a presser yesterday

I certainly am not saying it’s hard. I am saying that there is a difference in upkeep. Not saying it’s as bad as the Vietnam era armalites but changing from AK to M4’s is a difference.

The only problem with the Vietnam era rifles was the last minute changes in the type of gunpowder used in the ammo that the government implemented without consulting the armalite engineers. As soon as it was changed, the problems dropped exponentially.

They will sell this equipment to other nations for spare parts and such. Iran would love the trade of spare parts for oil.

Good thing is they have almost 400,000 of them, so they will get some practice according to most if the graphics floating around.

Any chance in hell they teach their soldiers how to field strip and care for these arms?
CIA knows how to field strip and care for those arms.

Okay Solus my man enlighten us with your firearms expertise (without using possibly to most overused and asinine cliche plug and play response to date)

This might be the biggest myth in the history of firearms. I figured it would've been squashed by now but it keeps persisting.
...what was the myth?

Not really. The M4/AR platform is as reliable as the AK and even more so in some circumstances
Today’s AR is a very reliable rifle. M4 cuts, good mags with great followers, reliable gas system, the works. Keep the bcg lubed and she’ll run. Even the goat fornicators know that. (They we’re probably issued them anyway before they switched teams)

They have been utilizing the rugged AK-47 as their weapon of choice which works well in a dusty goat crap environment and is known for reliability with minimal upkeep.
Watching these Taliban walking around with M4’s with Trijicon sights does make me jealous, but how quickly will these become dropped because of the lack of upkeep? The black hawks and other nice equipment will also go through this short lived phase.
Any chance in hell they teach their soldiers how to field strip and care for these arms?
Don’t be naive. You are correct about the aircraft. But the rest, we trained them to maintain and use everything that they have.
We spent 15 years training the Afghani Army, which was most likely 40% Taliban supporters. That’s why an army caved to 75,000 Taliban fighters.
They didn’t surrender, they went back to their original ideologies. Bush, Obama, Trump and Biden were fools for ever thinking it would be different.

Shouldn’t all the helicopters and stuff have gps? Seems like they would be easy to destroy

And a hell of a lot more accurate. I would wager the Taliban doesn’t have too many issues getting ammo either.

...both rifles are more accurate than the average shooter
Especially at the most common engagement ranges.
