After all this just appears we are getting heavy, heavy rain in Tennsippibama. Not even much wind (for those who don’t know this is absolutely NOT a post complaining about “hype”, “busts”, etc.)

s there a benefit to canceling schools for weather like this? Does it actually provide a benefit over the times in the past when we didn't cancel schools and close govt offices for fronts? Are lives saves? What are the economic impacts?
Our schools cancelled after school activities which seemed prudent. You want everyone home before the threat begins. Also, with the wind speed picking up, it's not great to have all these school busses running around.
But here in St. Bernard, state offices closed at noon. That to me was insane.

WWL saying the one on Maurepas should be crossing I-55 soon. You can probably catch it on DOTD traffic cams assuming they don't lose connection

How’s the winds over in your area of the state? They have calmed down a lot within the hour in NE AL?
Still steady in the 20s gusting to 30s right now. The pre-frontal stuff isn't far from me.

They dropped the warning on Maurepas storm but it’s still worth watching.

Is it because it's over water? How is radar looking (rotation)?

Still good rotation hugging north shore of Ponch, headed towards Madisonville/Mandeville

Looking out the 3rd story widows walk from the house on the levee in Bucktown…
We have 40mph winds here now.

I'm glad the storm motion is SSW instead of more Westerly. We'd be seeing quite a few more strong bookend vortices with the inflow these things have now.

A reminder:
These type storms won't give you warning. You won't have lead time.
