I have no problem helping out someone who is in a desperate situation through no fault of their own. for example, to buy Christmas presents for the children of a very sick parent, medical bills for a sick child which the parents can't afford, etc.

Honestly on some of those they just need to go bankrupt. The 15k raised $50 at a time isn't going to shite to a 400k medical bill. Not saying they probably don't need the money after something like that but hopefully the 15k will go to something other than pay a hopeless debt..
