I would organize and raise the money if LaToya let me contract it out and handle all the arrangements. I am not writing a check to LaToya and the city government of NOLA because they would probably use the money to put up a giant BLM flag or just steal the money.

I was being lighthearted in response to your negativity. I’m not getting into it on the internet about some statue I think is tolerable at best and way less preferable than the previous statue of one of my favorite people in American History.

ETA: Just googled the artist, and he does a lot of work with Mexican and Catholic iconography. One of his first major works was St. George slaying the dragon.

The crown is a blatant signaling of the racist, slave trading, colonizing, mass murdering patriarchy and must immediately be removed. The placement of the crown over the numerous red hearts reflects the abject disregard of said racists for the indigenous peoples they subjugated for centuries and the blood they spilled in so doing.
