This. The attorneys are just idiots. They resort to wearing fake glasses to make them look smarter.

This is in front of Judge Caldwell. Don't think the Sterlings could have picked a worse judge for their case

They definitely didn't get one of the 3 they wanted.

Best thing that could have ever happened was a Judge Caldwell pull. He's one of the only decent judges up there.

Why do they need to hold a news conference?

Because if they didn't, they would be badgered for a comment after doing so.

No doubt. I can say that anytime I've been in front of him, my client got a fair shake.

Why did you file in Baton Rouge? Because we hope to get an all black jury.

If that was the reason then they have already failed. Although EBR is around 53% black, this does not translate to majority black jurors. Of a 12 man jury, the usual make up is around 7 or 8 white & 4 or 5 black.

EBR is still a conservative venue. Tons of retired or active engineers, state and city workers who are very Republican and very hesitant to made huge awards. Even if they got lucky and hit a judgment, the Metro council can refuse to fund payment. Municipal government is protected from asset seizure.

The family may get more than they've bargained for as far as the details of Sterlings criminal past being established in the record (assuming admissible based on the circumstances at trial).

I wouldn't be surprised if the Assclown attorneys didn't even advise them as such, either because of ignorance or greed.

Given the public statement, can the officers counter sue?

Metro council can refuse to pay even if they get a judgement????

This doesn't seem too add up.

This will stay in state court a maximum of 30 days. There are federal causes of action asserted which lets the City and Officers remove it to federal court.

The federal jury pool will be a lot less favorable than the 19th.

This was always about the money and always will be. His family didn't give a shite about him, and he didn't about them. This is just a money grab, and they're gonna win because our administration is in on it

Edit: when they win, they'll call it justice, but it's anything but justice

EBR is an absolute crapshoot jury wise. You are spot on.

Are we even sure these are his children? Has a DNA test been performed. I occasionally watch a TV documentary called "The Maury Show".

They seem to run about 50/50 on whether the person that the mother tells that he is the father is actually the father.

I am guessing that paternal lineage would be important in this lawsuit but am unsure.

They'll probably pose for pictures with Sterling's family while handing over one of those oversized jackpot checks

Biggest case they'll ever file and there's a grammar mistake in the first line of the petition.

The federal judicial pool is more P-friendly than Caldwell though.
