Port Arthur stinks and has the worlds largest mosquitos.

I was on a LA-Texas work trip several years ago and I passed through Port Arthur. A guy was standing outside a convenience store on my outbound tip through TX.
When I was coming back a couple of days later -- same guy standing out in front of the same store.

Shreveport has a loop, and the traffic is really good for a big city. South Shreveport is fine, and the BR comparison without LSU is pretty true. Like too many of these cities in the South, there are just too many people totally reliant on government for everything.

Its a pretty shitty city and I have only been 2 or 3 times.
I had a cousin who lived there. He was a captain or co-captain on the river boat for the Horseshoe and he was getting married. His younger brother was a bell hop for the casino and was throwing the bachelor party.
He "lined up" the strippers. He told us he knew the girls "through work" and that they were escorts he and the head of cleaning would work together to get them rooms that wasn't occupied and so they were doing him a favor.
I am thinking.. Well, they are hotel hoes so maybe its not that bad... but we are in Shreveport.. Well, they were more Shreveport hoes than hotel hoes.
These two girls were dropped off in an old Nissan truck with one headlight out and both were blitzed out of their mind. Not drunk.. Or at least not just drunk. One of them had bruises on her legs. They looked like TV crack whores. It was me, a cousin I went up there with, 3 or 4 dudes from Shreveport and the cousin getting married and his brother.
They put the music on and got the girls dancing and they could barely stand up. Everyone these, except for me and the cousin I went there with pulled out a bunch of cash. They had $5s and using them like they were $1s. They kept handing us a $5 and having the time of their lives. We pocketed the $5s and then we split. Together we had $45.
We were at some dude's house who played music at Edwin Edward's favorite bar in Shreveport.
The next day we went to the wedding and went back home. I left Shreveport feeling nasty. Even the wedding venue was run down. Its all around the trashiest city I ever been to.

You poor bastard. Sorry for questioning you. You won.
The actual city of Jackson is becoming a true dump. Like not safe to venture into most of it. The area around Jackson is a fine place to live though not particularly exciting.

Ellick, Monroe, Port Arthur, TX, West Memphis, AR, and Jackson, MS are worse than Shreveport. Everywhere else is better.

I’m a Shreveport native but haven’t lived there in over 20 years. I would never go back again and would probably never live in Louisiana again.
Sorry, downvote all you want. I love the people, food and culture but Louisiana doesn’t offer the business opportunities that other states have.

I think the hate is a little overboard on here. I lived in at least one worse city.
There are scores of worse cities in the southeast. Shreveport is what it is. A smallish town with a directional D1 college. Troy, AL. Hattiesburg, MS Monroe, LA. Hammond, LA are where Shreveport should be compared to. On this board it gets compared to uptown New Orleans and southwest Baton Rouge
For anyone born and raised in the southeast Shreveport is just another mid sized city (in southeastern scale), with the same shite to offer as every other mid sized city and lacking all the same shite other mid sized cities lack. I can see why that wouldn’t be appealing to some attorney affiliated with a billionaire pedophile from New York

Nothing to downvote. That’s hard data

People and culture are redundant. South/Southwest Louisiana culture is unique. The people and culture and food in Shreveport can be found in 5 or 6 other states. You can’t tell me the culture in Shreveport is unique to the culture 40 miles north in Arkansas.

Obviously never visited Jackson, MS.
They’re both shitholes in different states. I wonder what they share in common?

Hattiesburg and Troy are much better, IMO
But I've only driven through Shreveport, don't even really like doing that tbh.

But why though. What’s the underlying issue?

“Beyond your imagination”well that’s a bit of an exaggeration

Census for July 2024 - June 2025 was recently released.
Of the 10 states that lost the most population, Louisiana was the only "red" state.
