Between this and the fact that over half of Louisiana attorneys are over the age of 50, it looks like I'm going to be an OT Baller after all.

Yes. Every single law school grad for at least the past 10 years is unemployed. Every last one of them.

I tell my wife I go to the office to be a lawyer but I've been selling handcarvings for 2 years now.

I'm telling you that most lawyers hate being lawyers (even the wealthy ones) and it isn't just because of the over saturation. It is because the job is often just miserable.

So much this. I was a tax attorney in private practice and hated every single day I was there. I got the hell out of my firm as soon as I had a good opportunity and became CFO at a trucking company. Although they made great money, I did not want to be in my 50's and live the life the partners at my firm were living. There are so many better ways to make money

I could have told you this was going to be horrible after I took Income Tax as a Pass/Fail course.

Only if you want to sue someone on principle and avoid all practicality. Those are my favorite clients (Other than the hand carving enthusiasts).

You would think with enrollments so far down that they'd be throwing more scholarship money at me

Not sure where you got that stat but the flood of students into the laws school combined with the saturation of the market did not happen near that many decades ago.

There is still a huge glut of unemployed and underemployed law graduates under 35 still waiting for the market to clear.

The cats in their 50's aren't the issue. It's the glut of attorneys under 35 that is the problem.

Or at least that's my appreciation of the issue anyway.
