How crappy does your water infrastructure have to be to get completely destroyed. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of this happening. It’s just laughable.
Apparently a lot of uprooted trees in Ragley destroyed the water pipes there and some places get water, others trickle, and others have nothing. My mom has nothing. Before the storm the water district there was bragging about having the generators ready to go for the pumps. That's great if your lines are in one piece.

Does anyone in LCH have contacts for disaster cleanup companies to assess water damage? Would like to have it looked at before I start ripping down sheetrock, though I’m fairly certain that will need to be done.
The guy that owns the ServPro franchise in LC is very nice and I have used them on several projects. Give them a call if you need it quickly. There's also a Servpro in DeRidder that is family owned and good too.

My brother is in Baton Rouge heading back to LC in the morning. He needs 4 gas cans for my sister and we can't find any anywhere for him to buy some. Checked the usual places HD, Lowe's, Walmart...any places open until 9 he can check tonight? He has to be on the road with his job in the AM and can't stop. He is the outage superintendent for Entergy so he has a lot of work ahead of him.
I'm inbound from Houston with supplies. I'm willing to help.

I bought three this morning from Spillway Sportsmen in Port Allen. $25 a piece for 5 gallon.
Thanks. Wonder what time they close. He is in meetings until 7:30

I might take you up on that. She is in Merryville and only can get to Ragley maybe due to limited fuel. I have to see if he has time tomorrow to meet you in LC. He said from today on we probably won't see him for a month.

Lowe’s in sulphur is open. Haven’t stepped inside. Got all my shite in Texas including 8 5 gallon gas cans, generator, AC, tarps. I’d imagine that they will get shipments daily during this crisis. You know they’re here to make money too. Hope all is well with everyone. We lucked out other than cosmetic shite. Structure intact and not leaking.

Got it. I will exhaust other options before putting you through too much. Everyone in SWLA has their own issues to deal with but I greatly appreciate your willingness.

Gas cans hard to find even in Houston. I went to 8 stores today and zippo. Finally got neighbors to donate a few to send back With my brother.

I have a dozen left over from Rita but he was trying to fill them up in BR because only a few stations in LC have gas and the lines are 2 hours long. If she can get to my storage place shop in Ragley she can use my cans but they do not help her without gas in the area.
Honestly, it's just a mess. This brings back so many Rita memories and makes me wonder why any sane person would deal with this every 10 to 15 years.

Albeit word of mouth, I was told one of the main water plants for East LCH basically disintegrated. Structures in East LCH on eastward were literally blown out completely. The level of destruction is hard to even describe unless you see it for yourself.
East LCH essentially got hit with what was essentially nearly a tornado the size of a city. Glad you’re so entertained though.

Trying to figure out where we’re going to live if our house isn’t an option is overwhelming. There’s nowhere to go. Everything is obliterated.

If I get back to LC anytime soon, and you are still fighting with finding help for your place, I will get in touch. I made some calls today to some of my crews in other states to come help, and even though I haven't done public contracting work in 10 years, I will probably do so for the recovery.

I know of two AirBNB houses that are still fine with zero damage and the owner is tired of AirBNB. She wants to rent them out but she wants $2500 per month furnished. That was before the storm. I can check if you need me to. A personal friend of mine.

Thanks. The only thing I need is cheaper parking. $30 per day is highway robbery. I like where we are at though since it has a kitchen and my wife can walk to Harrah's and leave me alone.

Yeah, if you are inside the interstate there isn't a whole lot I can do now. Before GE closed shop I could have thrown you free parking. If you are open to walking a few blocks just outside the interstate on Magazine or St Charles is free and secure enough.
You can park a little farther uptown and just take a $5 uber when needed.
Harrahs had a deal where you could play and park for free. Maybe one of the gambling degenerates can give more info on how that works.

We're staying on St Charles. Where can I park?
