Hopefully this works, pictures are Nelson and sale road area, drone footage is short

I live in this area. A neighbor stayed behind (crazy bastard) and messaged that the houses on our street look pretty good, mostly missing shingles and small trees down.

Considering what I was prepared to go back to, if what he said was accurate, I’m very thankful.

You think that guy at holly beach made it?

Are you talking about that chaser who was driving along the beach yesterday before Laura arrived? If so, he left Holly Beach after recording that video so he wasn’t there for landfall.

Any reports on storm surge/wind damage in Pecan Island area?

I’m going to try to get down to Forked Island later today. Might see how far south we can get (assuming we can get further south than FI). I’ll post an update when I can.

Nephew said the amount of trees down is unreal. Won’t be able to get back to western Calcasieu for days.

.@LouisianaGov says he got the report of the first fatality from Hurricane Laura in Louisiana. A 14 year old girl who died when a tree fell on her home. We do expect that there could be more fatalities.
