It may turn, but if I am in Beaumont or even Galveston I am beginning to get kind of nervous that it might not turn soon enough.

I don't think anyone from Houston to Beaumont will unpucker until that turn to the North happens. Nobody is suggesting it won't, but you know.

Even on the projected path, I'd rather not be in Beuamont.

He is still in NICU. They had to take him off CPAP today and reintubated due to some issues with his diaphragm.

omg I would so upset leaving my baby in the NICU and having to go to a city hours away. It’s hard enough leaving the baby everyday to go home. Poor family.

Can't water wash that away

Maybe? I have no clue what it looks like or what it’s made out of, but I would assume most pieces of land described as a “bluff” would not be washed away. Not saying I would stay there, just saying that the photo included with the comment that they were staying was a little deceiving, as their home is not at sea level, but actually on a piece of land much higher up.

A beast. Nature, man. You really get an idea of how large the storm is from that picture.

For anyone wondering, there’s a group on Facebook called Hurricane Laura Aftermath. Not sure if it’s been covered because the thread is moving so fast. I’m sure there will be a lot of vids, pics, cries for help, and I’m sure there will be a need for a lot of help afterwards.

Jesus.

I had this thought earlier and I saw one of the guys at Spacecity mention about the shear seeming to travel north with Laura and may not be much of a player in the end.

Might the outflow be pushing on the trough a little and keeping the shearing winds away from the core?

Yeh. I didn’t see anything but rotating gusts of wind made obvious by watching the tree branches.

Other than that - about a gazillion tweets telling me to take shelter. The kids were freaking out from all the alerts. But it was nothing

I have no idea. Is it even possible to have a reasonable guess on the timing of these movements? I don't even venture into trying to read these radar runs, charts, etc.
