One time when I was pretty young I was interviewing Jay Grymes for a career project and we started talking about hurricanes. I brought up Georges and like a dumb kid pronounced it “Gjeor-ges” like it looks.
Jay Grymes was like
You’re right but it’s pronounced “Gjorge”
And I was like

NTY,
Seeing both storms coming in like that brought up a question. Would those act together to increase storm surge ahead of the systems, particularly between them?
I apologize ahead of time for the stupid question.

Another useless Georges fact: forensic investigation after Katrina on the 17th Street Canal levee wall showed that it was actually weakened/damaged years earlier by hurricane Georges.
I’m not doubting that’s what you heard but how the hell could they possibly know that? Sounds like a convenient excuse for someone to pass the buck

12z GFS has shifted both storms about 200 miles west and both weak Tropical storms.??

I would think it would have the opposite affect bc of the circular motion of the storms.

That sucks; they’ve let me go to all of ours fortunately

Or makes post on damn near every page acting like they know what they are talking about huh?
And yes, those trying to take bits of info from any and every source to make things sound bad are the worst.

The latest GFS has Laura going into Texas...
Texas is a pretty large state

gonna be fun trying to fly home from McAlester, OK to Birmingham, AL - lots of turbulence

These computer models are absolutely fricked right now. They don't have a clue what's going on.
It's possible Laura keeps a more southward trend and just slams right into Cuba obliterating itself. It actually took a big dip south earlier.

Gonna be the most challenging forecast this weekend for the experts at the NHC.

Steve Caparotta said at noon that this is the hardest tropical forecast of his and his colleagues’ careers due to both being in such close proximity. We in this thread need to prepare for one hell of an enormous bust or actual impacts.

Latest GEFSv12 guidance (via weathermodels.com) is consistent with recon data, satellite trends, and other model guidance suggesting that #Laura will likely track farther south than initially anticipated.
That lowers the #Bahamas threat and increases the Gulf Coast threat.
