So glad my daughter and son-in-law left last night. They live in Sulphur and are staying with friends in Lafayette. Still close but a heck of a lot better than ground zero.

Key messages for Laura can be found in the Tropical Cyclone
Discussion under AWIPS header MIATCDAT3 and WMO header WTNT43 KNHC.

rising waters moving inland from the shoreline. The water could
reach the following heights above ground somewhere in the indicated
areas if the peak surge occurs at the time of high tide...
Sea Rim State Park to Intracoastal City including Sabine Lake and
Calcasieu Lake...10-15 ft
Intracoastal City to Morgan City including Vermilion Bay...8-12 ft
Port Bolivar to Sea Rim State Park...6-9 ft
Morgan City to Mouth of the Mississippi River...4-7 ft
San Luis Pass to Port Bolivar...3-5 ft
Galveston Bay...3-5 ft
Mouth of the Mississippi River to Ocean Springs including Lake
Borgne...2-4 ft
Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Maurepas...2-4 ft
Freeport to San Luis Pass...2-4 ft

Youngsville here and flooded in 2016. Have a generator and plenty of gas... Questioning how rough it's going to get. Also if I should get the kids out of here. Two oaks on west side of house.

This is scary. My prayers are with all that will be affected by this. God Speed!

I think that surge will be maybe a little higher than Rita but slightly less than Ike
EDIT: Rita’s surge was 15-16 ft. About the same in that respect.

Moving NW now and slowing down I would think they move the cone to the East a bit. Is this trend expected to continue or is this a outlier?

It's incredible how accurate Levi has been with this entire hurricane.

Anyone who tries to ride this out in Cameron or Holly Beach probably isn’t going to make it. This time tomorrow the coastline will be 10-15 miles inland.

Glad I went to rutherford beach recently... Wonder if it'll still be intact.
