I went on a bike ride this morning and the deer I saw in NW Houston didn't seem worried. I'm following their lead

Where at? Ever taken the Spring Trails from Pundt Park? I heard they are planning on extending that bike trail so it becomes the longest paved trail in the country.

As for wind damage in Vermillion Parish, the worst-case global model for that area is getting wind gusts up to the mid-70s.

Not fun in the middle of the night and will cause some power issues, but surge, like always, is the primary concern anywhere south of 14.

South of Abbeville got hit pretty good, but Esther, Mouton Cove was the worst. I live in Erath and my house flooded for Rita, not sticking around for this one.

We had no flooding for Rita or 2016 — well 2016 our house didnt flood but the hood did. Husband kayaked to the main road and hopped a ride to his dad who could get him to the farm. Came home in a rice truck. That was a site to see.

I might have trouble leaving my hood but not worried about the house.

Opinions of surge/flooding in Abbeville?

South of 14 will have bad flooding. We have family from delcambre to abbeville and each is pretty nervous right now. Rita hit them all catastrophically

What should we expect in BR?

Rain and wind baww. Possible twister here or there.

Untie the boat from the trailer.
Buy beer, charcoal, propane for the burners, more beer, light the pit, drink some beer, cook, drink more beer and enjoy the breeze.. If you hear what sounds like a jet taking off then just go jump in a closet!

I did a quick ride on the NW side this morning. Didn't have time for a big ride. I ride Spring Creek Greenway often. I start at Dennis Jhonston park but ride through Pundt Park. I ride to Jessie H Jones park then double back.

That's probably my favorite place to ride. I was out there one day a few weeks ago and came up on 5 deer just hanging out on the bike path. They barely moved when I whizzed by.

It's going to be touch and go for those folks. If you got a few feet for Rita, you're probably getting water again. If you got an inch or two, you may be okay.

my wife is 20 weeks pregnant with our first. if this thing was any real danger to North Houston, we'd be headed out of town. I think we'll be just fine unless there is a significant jog to the West.

Got ya. Was just giving you shite. Hope the wife stays good during it all.

We're down in Sugar Land - Richmond area. Guess we should definitely expect higher winds than Harvey here, but yeah, hopefully not as much water.

I am pissed I didn't call Centerpoint a few months ago to cut some branches away from the powerline near my back fence.

Ehhhh
You send the wife and children out.

, look for the white wind barbs followed by an immediate change in wind direction. That's an approximation of the center. One of the center fixes fro earlier today is already there for you at 992mb.

Yea, I'm always a bit leary of comparing lat long on a sat image to real world observations but the one negative is that recon puts the surface LLC just N of the apparent "center" in the image, so still needs to vertically stack a bit more.
