Check in from LC here. Waiting on the 10am update, but we are likely heading to BR. I'm thinking that will be the shortest drive to get back and assess any damage.
Also have been working on the LNG build down in Cameron. Laura is definitely going to put the storm wall and pumps to the test... 17 months of construction could turn into a massive cluster.

The guy calling for evacuations because a cat 4/5 is inbound to Houston is wishcasting and fear mongering.
It just made Hurricane status and he is talking about it being Cat 4. Yes wishcasting.

Abeville got a lot of flooding for Rita.
Yep. If your house / yard flooded for Rita, or takes a lot of water with a more than routine storm, do not stay

If it stays on current path, Abbeville will get it just like Rita.

Looks like Laura may have resumed a more WNW or even northwest by west track.

My aunt lived in Abbeville for 30 years. 2-3 miles south of the city limits. She took 4 feet of water in the house for Rita. Vermillion River was about 300 yards from her property.

Nah.
Laura is projected to be a high end storm. That's not wishcasting.
Calling it to Freeport in order to get max anxiety out of the Houston market is wishcasting.
ETA - and it may hit Freeport, but that's not nearly the consensus right now. It's equivalent to a gut feeling in this thread.

I don’t think Abbeville got a lot of flooding — Erath, Delcambre, Henry yes but I don’t recall that for Rita.
There was a surge absolutely but it was south of Perry and near Perry where we live.

for this type of storm I'd be more worried about high winds and the 2 100ft+ pine trees in my yard.
full disclosure. my wife is 20 weeks pregnant with our first. if this thing was any real danger to North Houston, we'd be headed out of town. I think we'll be just fine unless there is a significant jog to the West.

Michael corleone, where 3 miles south?? I just don’t remember Abbeville itself flooding.

Also, Laura is forecast to hit within an hour or two of high tide at Sabine Pass. Not ideal.

Harvey said hello to Allison. Allison was never going to happen again. Right

Spring area, not sure of the neighborhood. I know they're further West of Woodlands.
If it doesn't shift anymore, I think they're fine. I guess I'm just worried if it keeps jogging West.
I went on a bike ride this morning and the deer I saw in NW Houston didn't seem worried. I'm following their lead.

There were some rough floods in low areas south of VC
In between Coulee Kinney and the Vermilion River.. not the best place
My mom lives in Mt. Carmel heights and we had shingle damage

Sandoz property. My uncle died years before and she was a widow. Her son died a year or two after Rita.

I know people who live in that area and truly never knew anywhere near town flooded. Again, Erath, Henry, Delcambre, Esther — I’ll stay out of the flooding questions!
