2PM Sunday: A few tornadoes are possible Monday for most of SE LA and Coastal and S MS. These tornadoes would likely spin off of bands that are associated with Marco. Have a way to receive warnings. Stay weather aware tomorrow! #mswx #lawx

Hurricane Hunter plane got into Laura and immediately found 48-49 kts (55-56 mph) at the surface with the SFMR (unflagged)... wonder if that's enough for the NHC to bump up the intensity another 5 mph at 4 PM?

My kids' school just sent an email summarized as "We don't see any real threat for Monday in Baton Rouge, so we are having a school. We will close Tuesday and Wednesday though from the future threat of a storm thats still way out and not even in the gulf." SMH

You sure it’s not closing due to Marco coming through Monday night and The potential for power outages and storm damage?

Are you talking about Laura?

reply:
No. Marco. I should have said that. I'm still watching Laura though.

Out of curiosity what’s your issue with this?

My issue is when you need to get 800 kids off campus because the arrival time of the storm is a couple hours ahead of what's predicted or a tornado spins off from a feeder band that will be here much earlier than the actual hurricane. I dont personally care because mine are in high school and drive. Just think it is short sighted on the schools part.

So according to that map Laura won’t really effect BR? Our biggest threat is Marco right?
