The downvotes on my post and the upvotes on his are throwing me off

I’m not as drunk as he’s making me feel.

I know it was your dad and not you, but this joke made sense when they were 600 miles apart on expected landfall. Now it’s basically the easiest decision ever for TWC - Plaquemines Parish may get you both storms.

Also worth noting Cantore isn’t in the thick of it anymore. They never send him to ground zero anymore.

I was thinking if I left Beaumont around 1-2, I would be able to avoid most of the incoming stuff. I can detour through ALexandria if needed

You 100% need to be taking 165 to Monroe if you're hellbent on playing chicken with a hurricane.

looking at the flight pattern of the plane in Laura

I'm intrigued by the couple of circles that the plane did to drop dropsondes #s 5 & 6

looking at the info from those drops... I would guess that was the plane looking for a low level center fix... though neither drop is identified as the "eye"

No, just have a general understanding of what the worst part of the hurricane is.

The front right quadrant relative to forward motion is the worst.

For LA, that’s the NE.

For somewhere like the eastern coast of FL, that would be the NW quadrant.

Um, it looks like Laura is missing the mountains in the Dominican Republic. That's not good, right?

I will say this.

People always put too much into the wind speed. frick that. To me it’s the rain and flooding. Also only a small area will generally feel the brunt. I hate when people bitch and say ohh that storm was a pussy because their neighborhood was spared. shite normally it’s a small area that really feels it and be happy it wasn’t your hood.

The strongest quadrant would still be the NE quadrant - even if the Western side of the storm was hitting the East coast of FL.
