I served while in college.
I would have walked out if that table came in. I dealt with that table twice and it is the worst experience ever. Constantly want something. Do not shut up. Do not pay attention so you have to sit there waiting while busy. Do not order in turn. Demanding. Food is never cooked right. Constant refills.
frick that.

Sure, but how do you ensure you've been served the correct species of fish at a restaurant? What do you do if you have suspicions?

I’ve never understood why restaurants indulge this behavior. If they bad mouth the restaurant to their friends wouldn’t you just get less clientele that you already don’t want?

Was trying to figure out why “racism” wasn’t focus with police being called.

She makes it seem like the police were called because they simply asked them to split the check.
Lots of details are left out.

I worked at an On the Border in the summer of 2008 before my sophomore year in college, and one night I was told I was going to work a 25 person table on the patio with another server, which was fine.
All of a sudden the party starts showing up and it was a bunch of "hood" people. Plus, way more than 25 showed up. Closer to 50. They were pulling up chairs from other tables on the patio and even taking up other patio tables. These people ran me and my fellow server serving them to death. We could not bring them out chips and salsa fast enough, they were ordering a ton of drinks from the bar, appetizers left and right, and every single thing they ordered had about a dozen modifications to it, which they would send back if all 47 modifications weren't correct. Most of these modifications were extremely arbitrary, such as "light sauce" for enchiladas, which is anybody's guess as to what light sauce is.
Anyway it was a total nightmare of a table. They all began to want to leave, so each of them of course wanted to go drinks and to go desserts.
Most of the people at this table skipped out and didn't pay. They snuck out and just assumed someone else at the table would be paying. The number of people at the table dwindled until there were only about 5 people left and hardly anyone paid. Some people left $10 or $20 on the table before leaving, but obviously bought way more than that and didn't pay their share before bolting. The poor 5 girls still there tried to scrounge up enough to pay the bill, which was well over $2,000. They came up with about $900. So the remaining $1,100 had to be charged off. We of course made no money.
Since it was such a big charge off, me and my fellow server got suspended because it was company policy to suspend servers when there is a charge off that big. I ended up quitting since it happened in late July and 2 a days for football were starting in just a couple of weeks, but frick that. The management acted like it was our fault that these idiots walked out on over $1,000.
I've worked many restaurant jobs in my day and had plenty of bad tables, but that was the all time worst for me.

They would always call and complain that the service took to long or the pizza was cold, etc. One woman in particular wanted a refund because she said she “didn’t order black olives.” I told my manager that I literally was the one who took her order over the phone and she explicitly said she wanted black olives. The manager was too nice and always caved. I would tell people like that to kick rocks if I was in that position.
Female family member who has managed at restaurants would see this. One in particular ordered take out, could not wait to eat it eating 99% at bar, and then complained it was bad and undercooked. Even after getting it taken off bill or refunded and acting like things were ok leaving the lady called corporate and got gift cards for more than what her “free” meal would have cost.
People know which companies give in and also which ones don’t have a good system of tracking what was done for customer already. It frustrating for all employees including the black waiters/waitresses as they all know what’s coming and know nothing done will avoid having to answer a complaint called into corporate or help get a regular type of tip.

Can you imagine sitting next to that table
Wife and I went out to a very nice steakhouse for our anniversary. It’s the nicest steakhouse in Bossier and not a huge place, so the atmosphere is to be intimate and quiet I guess is the best way to put it. Well there was a table of probably 6-8 drunk arse middle aged white women. They were yelling and cackling like fricking witches. Not a damn worker at the restaurant or the owner who was there went over to shut the table up. Completely ruined the meal for my wife and I and the rest of the patrons in the restaurant. Myself and every other man in that restaurant were just glaring at these women and they were completely oblivious.
What I’ve found in my time working in restaurants previously and in general just being a patron, is that tables of all women, particularly 30+ year olds, are the loudest and most obnoxious.
I told my wife if that were my own mother at that table I’d have gone over and told her to keep it the frick down.

Groups of women in pretty much any setting especially if there is alcohol present are going to be very loud and obnoxious. They love to talk over each other almost like it’s a competition

Splitting checks is always done where I live, we don't even have to ask. But I'm white.

A lot of restaurants won’t split checks on big tables like that. It has nothing to do with race

This is way off-topic. I resurrected this thread to talk about the situation where a restaurant may have served you the wrong species of fish.
