My daughter, (no pics), worked at a Greek restaurant in high school and college during the summers. The traffic at lunch time was insane due to hospitals and government offices in the area and still pretty decent at night. She could easily get $300 in tips during lunch and maybe $200 on the dinner shift. The waiters tipped out the cooks and bus boys after their shift ended. After one particularly busy shift a black cook asked her if she had waited on many of “my” people. When she said no, he said in his own words “good, cause n*$$@$ don’t tip”.

So now we laugh about the Chimes East “samplers”.
We had to stop ordering seafood gumbo from chimes East after 2 times getting it without any obvious signs of seafood other than a piece of crab in its shell. Never had a problem with their duck and sausage gumbo.

I could write a book from my college waiting days

Chapter One:
“The two of us ate four appetizers and now our entrees “don’t taste right” and we want them off our bill.”

Chapter Two:
“My wife hated her food so I ate it all and we want it taken off our bill.”

Chapter Three:
“Our friends didn’t know about the 20% tip and didn’t leave enough money when they left so take it off our bill.”

Enjoying this thread. My contribution is I went to Outback a couple of years ago and a black lady got water, ate the two loafs of bread they brought, and left. The staff didn’t even seem surprised.

Anytime a table of that persuasion would walk in, we'd call them Canadians here. That way everyone knew what to expect. "Table of 4 Canadians, walking in."

Not exactly the typical restaurant industry job, but I was a delivery driver for Papa John’s in both Knoxville and Collierville, TN. I used to dread getting orders out to the black neighborhoods. Not because I’m racist, but because getting a tip was extremely rare. They would always call and complain that the service took to long or the pizza was cold, etc. One woman in particular wanted a refund because she said she “didn’t order black olives.” I told my manager that I literally was the one who took her order over the phone and she explicitly said she wanted black olives. The manager was too nice and always caved. I would tell people like that to kick rocks if I was in that position.

That could be why Canadians have a general dislike of Americans.

I know it would sure as heck piss me off.

That Landry's was even at that location pissed me off. What a shithole. Like that stupid Bubba Gump crap down the road.

Best ever was a church tour bus showed up during swing shift with me, another server and bartender on duty, I mean very few people come to eat at 2 in the afternoon.

A group of 40 rolls in unannounced, one of them sees on the menu that parties of 5 or more may have gratuity applied so they proceed to sit at about 12 different tables. Not one left a penny for anyone.

I wish that was a joke because that is fricking pathetic.

You think you will get banned for saying Katrina blacks are bad tippers?

Do you know where you are?

I’ve never understood why restaurants indulge this behavior. If they bad mouth the restaurant to their friends wouldn’t you just get less clientele that you already don’t want?

No. Just won a little money on them when they made their run to the NCAA Final Four so I chose them as my team.

I never indulged it. I made them pay for it. Our owner's policy was that if they used profanity we no longer had to talk with them. At that point it's pay me or speak with the police. Once you bring the police into the situation, they usually paid while bitching.

Dave Chappelle has a bit in one of his stand ups (Killing Them Softly maybe?) where he jokes about stereotypical food being delicious and hilarious.

Pretty sure this place tried to pass off catfish as redfish tonight. I'm not a fish sommelier or anything, but I know what catfish is and you don't have to go to Louisiana Bistreaux to get it.
