I am from Lafayette and one thing I have learned about people from New Orleans, from all walks of life, is they take immense pride in being from there.
It depends imo who you are talking to. My entire family is from there and still lives there, minus myself. I work there though. All my friends from there minus a very few still live there. No one takes pride in the city and all recognize its a shithole that is a lost cause.
The only people I see taking pride and taking up for the city are old time uptown libs and people that arent from New Orleans. You see it all the time on this site. Ellishughtiger is the uptown lib example and we have a host of others from small town LA that think its cool that they now live in Nola and will defend it to the death and make excuses for everything.

any good viable people
No and the way the system is set up there never will be.
The good people aren't viable because they aren't going to be indebted to the scumbags whose favors are needed for votes.
Viable candidates aren't generally good people because they have pimped themselves out for so long they can't really act and make changes for the betterment of all because they are beholden to one group/individual or another.
What remains to be seen is if there's an effective person who can at least make some positive gain in one area of need or the other instead of failing in every single duty.

this is a pretty good example of the effects of Mitch and Destroya, but not what I am talking about. I am referring to traditionally people from all walks of life take pride in being from New Orleans. Of course that has changed in the last 8-10 years

It's really a mixed bag...you have a lot of white collar professionals.....dr's, lawyers, cpa's, financial sector jobs, (there's 6 major hospitals and a Major University Hospital) in a 5 mile radius of Uptown, and young families that inherited the family business and are tied to the area etc that have planted roots and have deep family roots or kids settled in private or even good charter schools.
Then you have a shite ton of Tulane and Loyola undergrad and Law students whose parents bought them a house uptown or you have outside investors buying up houses and turning them into dorms, not sure if you're aware of the D2D Program..if you're not then you may want to do some research on that.....the reason is because Tulane and Loyola dont make money on housing so they dont offer housing...so big time investors are doing it themselves.
Add in the new condo developments, Four Seasons condos, Casinos, the amount of new restaurants, shops, Saints, Superdome, Pelicans..I can go on.....
Im not defending it to the death nor am I making excuses...I'd move in a heartbeat, and I will eventually....but for now I have to swallow the pill and put up with the bullshite....but I will never say the city is a lost cause just because of Latoya Cantrell..... yes presently it is a shithole and is a fricking disaster......but so is the entire State..as well as this fricking Country......

One day they're gonna make a movie about this press conference. What a shite show. She obviously has no one around her that can tell her something is a bad idea.

Would Sidney Torres run? A coworker of mine said he has a shady past or something, but did not give details. I do not know much about him at all other than his waste business. What do New Orleanians on here think about him?

They wanted him to run last time but he didn't. He had some feud with Desiree Charbonnet. I don't know what he did in his past. What I can tell you is that he has been involved in successful waste management, security, and real estate development. Those are 3 pretty important areas for a Mayor. I don't really care what's in his past because there are no clean candidates in a New Orleans Mayoral Race.

Are there real numbers on the economic impact of this clown's vacations abroad?

No way to correlate that. I can tell you that the Mayor's office will take credit for it but that doesn't mean anyone visiting from abroad or otherwise contributing to N.O. economy is doing so because of a "sister city" agreement or trip.

That's great. Glad no one is defending her anymore. She's a real piece of shite. I'm from New Orleans but moved away in 2016 and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. It's so sad to see the city in the state that it's currently in

I don’t think he would be worse than Cantrell. It will probably never happen though. Oliver Thomas will end up getting elected, sadly. Plus I’m sure if SDT were to run there would be a laundry list of incidents that come out with stuff in his past. Apparently he used to like to do a little tootin’ of that girl yaheardme? I think the comical commercial when he undoubtably gets kid rock to do a song during election time would be worth it.

Torres is a rich kid that partied with rock stars and actors in his younger years. That partying could lead to some of "skeletons of the past".
I'd be all for Torres being mayor. I just don't see why he would want to be mayor. He has money, local/regional fame and not under public microscope like a mayor is.

Exactly. That’s pretty much what I’ve heard throughout the years from different circles. I just don’t see him ever running. I think anyone could run on the campaign promise of “I can’t do worse than Teedy”, regardless of who they are.

Everyone is coming out and finally being vocal calling her out
All the WWL Radio host have been railing on her all week
The TV Media is calling her out on TV, Facebook and Twitter
The City Council is finally coming out and calling her out
Prominent left wing citizens like Clancy Dubious are throwing her under the bus.....
She has no one defending her.....not even Mitch got this much negative press
