I wondered the same thing.
She also said she assumed her room was $700 because that was all that was available. I would have asked what criteria was given to the travel agent and if a limit on cost per night was provided.
Not much else she said was a great surprise.
I'd like to see some proof in the future of the return of money brought into the city by the French visitors due to her visit there. She would be better off promoting the city within the US, in my opinion, at this time. On 40 grand, she could have made a lot of visits or simply filmed commercials and paid for those to be shown in certain areas.

The unasked question is why is she even doing these trips when the city she's mayor of has so many problems and deficiencies? Her priorities are all kinds of fricked up.

France is where we come from. They have an abasssdor that lives here. France has artists living here. More than 4. And so as the ceo and face of the city it’s being proactive to maintain cultural with France. It’s being proactive. Getting more travel and international travel especially with France will help crime. And the young ones that is important. It shows them. It provides an opportunity they might not otherwise had so yes it’s proactive.

Tourists aren’t coming if you shut down the major events held here and play catch-and-release with assholes robbing them in touristy areas.
This doesn’t go into other issues, like Parisian attitudes. They think people who live anywhere else in France are dumb fricking hicks regardless of where they are. They probably think less of Americans whose city got sold by Napoleon.
