I've read somewhere that a Nagin staffer blurted out at a press conference that the actual stat was around 70%

I wouldn't doubt it.

Think of growing up with a father that isn't around, has no job, and you get zero support from. Kids have very little chance in that situation

I am well aware, that is kind of my point.

You have certain sub-cultures..... where LITERALLY you are not considered a "man" until you have served time.

What child stands a chance growing up in that sub-culture?

But rest assured, that child will grow up, and blame all of his problems, on whitey and the man.

Rinse and repeat.

Just drive around central city New Orleans during the day, 50% definitely seems conservative

And yeah, but single mothers are strong!

I agree with you. That's almost impossible.

This is 100% correct.

Unfortunately, it's also just cliche stuff politicians say and never really do with any success.

This is a really really bad take. I don't even know where to begin. There are real world consequences for acting on BAD ideas. What would be the nature of this failure? Would failure mean making the city worse off?

This is just so easy to solve.

Most violent crimes happen under the cloak of darkness (although in the BR recently we have seen some murders in broad daylight).

Eliminate gov programs that allow these thugs to not have a job to feed/house themselves. Many will have to seek out work and this should be easy in the current economy.

When a man has to drag his arse out of bed early to go to a job he hates to feed his family, he will go to bed at a reasonable hour and not be out shooting his rivals.

There 80% of murders solved.

Where’s my check?

To be fair, she does say this:

quote:

Nothing stops a bullet like a job, and we want to make sure the right tools get into the hands of the right people

While I agree she has no real plans to implement at this time, she isn’t making some statement saying she is coming for our guns.

She also mentions people leaving their guns in unlocked cars and getting into the hands of ciriminals. Everyone here I would imagine is on board with responsible gun ownership, which she also is harping on.

I do agree that this is likely a pre cursor to some bullshite plan that does nothing to fix the true problem, but the statement could be worse.

AR500 steel plates are vastly more effective at bullet stopping. Inch-thick plates of it should be used to wall off the hoods.

Doesn't Chicago and California have some of the strictest gun laws in the country?

She’s blaming the law abiding gun carrying citizens of the City for the crime problem. She’s anti white and anti Uptown. She’s made that very clear.
