Anything happen in the last few days? Have the Russians finally got their shite together or are they still being Russians?

Great listen with HR McMaster and Lt. Gen Ben Hodges.

Hodges says Ukraine is going to win this war.

He said if he were teaching a class on this conflict, 50% of it would be devoted to the importance of logistics. That's been the biggest factor of the whole thing. The Russian's inability to coordinate between forces is another big factor, along with their lack of discipline.

Seems like they are still being Russian's. Appears May 9th is an important day... I would think leading up to it Saturday and Sunday things might get interesting. Gonna be cloudy with showers in Moscow and eastern Ukraine. Looks to be clear in the south for that day. Not sure that any of that matters but some kinda of BS Russian holiday.

Seems like a class could be taught in each of those subjects starting with discipline and readiness. Then a whole course on battlefield communications and probably 2-3 classes on logistics. I'm no expert but I think one could write a master's maybe Ph.D thesis on Russian missteps in just the 3 months of this conflict.

Russian nationalists would argue that is exactly what Western nations are doing in Finland, Poland, and Ukraine (and maybe even the Baltic states).

Absolutely… all the hallmarks of western society scare the ruling class in Russia shitless… things like (relative) transparency in government, a population with real voting power, advanced technology allowing for information sharing… and then there’s the western style of warfare that takes the hallmarks of western society (like technology and independent minding working class) and uses them to outclass Russia militarily.

Some of that is hyperbole, and we’re by no means perfect… but there’s no doubt the ruling elite in Russia don’t want western expansion… it threats their control on power.

Trent Telenko is a great follow on Twitter. He talks a lot about logistics, communications and other things discussed here.

Reminds me of the North Vietnamese. They had discipline and always had their logistics moving. Even if it was on a peasants back through the jungle.

Latest Updates: Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Does this thread consist of 900 pages of people asking "is this the longest thread in TD history yet?" like the Gabby Petito thread?

It will be used as an excuse for the victory day parade being smaller than usual.

More importantly it means more mud to keep the Russians from being able to get their vehicles off the roads.

The Russians are having serious supply issues, and simultaneously carrying out heavy shelling of Ukrainian forces in the Donbas, night and day.

There was some of that around pages 69 and page 350 but most of those posts about longest topic have subsided. There is some great quality info here and links provided by others that is incredibly appreciated. It allows for me to skip nightly news and dive deeper into topics with quality commentary that is has little to zero bias.

That would be a dramatic exit. If I was Putin, I would be very nervous about going under general anesthesia.

Logistics is one facet of the supply chain of war or business or scoring touchdowns. I'm sure those Russians would love some Kool-aid. The problem is getting it to the forward troops. Blown up bridges, abondoned vehicles, signs pointing the wrong way, washouts, detours, getting ambushed on detours, all of this falls under the purview of logistics.

I'm sure this Russian surgeon will not be drunk on the job like the surgeon who performed Natalia Ramius's appendectomy.
