BBC News - Russia to conduct drills on disputed islands after Japan-imposed sanctions
quote:
Russia has said it is conducting drills on islands that are contested by Japan, days after withdrawing from peace talks in response to Toky's decision to impose sanctions on Russia for its invasion of Ukraine. Four islands - which Russia calls the Southern Kurils and Japan calls the Northern Territories - are the subject of a more than 70-year-old dispute between the two nations. Because of the dispute, Russia and Japan have not yet signed a peace treaty to end World War II. Earlier this week, Russia said it was withdrawing from negotiations with Japan aimed at signing that treaty, because of Tokyo's tough stance against Moscow's invasion of Ukraine. And now, Russia's Eastern Military District says it will conduct military drills on the islands with more than 3,000 troops and hundreds of pieces of army equipment. Japan had earlier condemned Russia for withdrawing from the peace talks and for halting joint economic projects in relation to the islands.

You can’t start WWIII if WWII isn’t over. While y’all playing checkers, Russians are playing 3D chess.

Please tell me how this is 3D chess.
Germany will attack Russia and this will cause, what exactly, America to go after Germany instead of Russia because at some point Japan will attack us having made a pact with NATO countries Germany and Italy? And this will cause the Ukrainians to say Hallelujah and immediately love the Russians again hoping they will save them from the Western world coming to attack them in the persona of German soldiers, the same guys they have been training with for 15 years now and who have been sending them aid?
That's 3D chess?

IDK, given how the war has progressed this past month, don’t we want to keep these guys in charge?

I didn't see anyone explain this so if you are being serious not understanding the red shirts from Star Trek they are the ones they usually get killed first and often. When a red shirt beams down to a planet on an away team chances are good they aren't beaming back up.

His responsibility was to keep these old units in running condition in the slight chance that they are needed again. So... that slight chance has arrived and when the MoD did their on-site inspection, they found only 10% of these vehicles in operating condition.
The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of #Ukraine reports the suicide of the commander of the 13th Tank Regiment of the 4th Tank Division of #Russia
Over the years, the commander had stripped parts for black market sale and pocketed MoD funds intended to replace parts. If Putin wants to correct the problems with the Russian armed forces, he has to reverse 20+ years of corruption. Once he fired Serdyukov in 2012, the die was cast for this performance.

Russia was also backing some far left groups in that time period. It's just that their efforts found particularly fertile ground on the right.
This is true. Hillary was the front runner so they pretty much backed anyone who wasn’t her to stoke mistrust and chaos. They were quite pro Bernie for a while.

100%. Massive corruption has occurred over the last 10 years. No maintenance of equipment, etc. I am sure that some of those billions that were spent probably went into those super yahts also.

More than these American women will do. They’ll have their legs wrapped around an invader before your body gets room temperature.

It took Ukraine 3-4 years to clean out its military of pro-Russian and corrupt officers that might sell stuff to Russia or steal it. That is one of the main reasons why the Pentagon didn’t recommend giving lethal aid to Ukraine until 2017. It then took Ukraine 4 years to train its ppl how to use the lethal aid it got from the west.
The corruption in Russia is just as deep as it was in Ukraine. Russia also doesn’t have western nations training its troops and western companies helping to modernize its equipment. It would take Russia at least 10 years to clean house, get non corrupt officers in charge, retrain its military to operate like a western military, and replace its outdated equipment.
However, Putin got to be one of the richest people in the world by stealing from his military.
The same could probably be said for China.
