Why is Russian top brass even on the front lines?
There are some really accomplished snipers in Ukraine, UK, French, US and Canadian. Lots of Russian are going to get shot in the head everyday.

I think a lot of the “generals” are really closer to a Col in our military. Brigade commander type guys for the most part.

Having a professional NCO corps is expensive would be my guess.
Think about how many schools we send our guys to by the time they’ve been in the service for 10 years or more.

Russians officially announce their war crimes:
Deadline for Mariupol surrender before ‘no quarter’ order enforced.

Good point, and active or reserve there is always school money.

It lets our NATO allies go nuts and we’ll still be culpable for it. We should instead say “frick No” to all our NATO allies ordering them to follow our lead.
If say, Romania or Poland, want to get involved in the war outside of an Article V framework we are under no obligation to join them even if Russia does launch attacks within their borders, assuming they enter the fight unprovoked. These countries know this and may very well feel that it’s worth it stop the Russian aggression.
And after seeing the Russian military’s performance the past few weeks they probably believe they can win.

It’s just a question of what our response should be to documented real time war crimes being committed. I understand doing absolutely nothing from a pov of avoiding putin becoming more unhinged, and I understand doing what we are currently doing being on the sidelines providing support. I agree I do not want troops to be in Ukraine.

Saw a Tweet today about rumored US Tier 1 assets in Ukraine conducting advance force operations.

If Poland, Slovakia, and Romania want to fight Russia, we should draw up an agreement to at least temporarily excuse them from NATO. Meaning, no expectation of Article V help.
If they went all-in, amongst the 3, the war would probably be over in 48 hours as Russia and Belarus cannot afford to open an additional 3 fronts against well-armed and well-rested militaries.

I seriously doubt those countries would be aggressive in the slightest if we were to temporarily kick them out of nato when they went to war.

I’d say, Romania or Poland, want to get involved in the war
Romania to a lesser degree.

Black bag MAYBE but not typical Tier 1 units.

At least a third if not more of Russian military assets are currently committed to Ukraine.
And their economy is in shambles.
If Poland, Slovakia, and Romania united into a temporary, ad-hoc military alliance, their combined Air Force would decimate Russian ground forces within a matter of days.
Edit: They just have to be willing to do it without the help of US, UK, or France. The nuclear powers have to stay out of it until Russian bombs start falling on our respective soils.

Sorry, we should be leading this and telling NATO to step in line. Save for how much we’re fricking up the oil, I don’t see since the invasion what we’ve radically fricked up in this. Blinken (let’s face it he’s leading this) fortunately has been cautious.
I’m all for healthy conversation about Ukraine but I don’t know what this means. Could you retype it?
