Trump isn’t letting the war continue. It’s continuing because Russia wants it to continue and Ukraine doesn’t want to accept Russia’s terms which amount to surrendering.
Trump put himself between a rock and a hard place when he trusted Putin to negotiate a fair peace. Now he is trying to get out.
Right. I took that as Trump realizing he has no power to stop it... or not the way he thought he did.

White House Quietly Pressures Senate to Water Down Russia Sanctions
Trump administration officials urge Sen. Lindsey Graham to weaken legislation - Wall Street Journal
quote:
??The Trump administration is seeking to persuade Republican Senator Graham to significantly soften his Russia sanctions bill.
- The publication notes that the White House’s priority is restoring relations with Moscow.
- White House and other officials have been informally in touch with Graham's office, insisting that the bill be amended to include provisions that would allow the president to decide who to punish and for what.
- One possible way to weaken the bill is to replace the word "must" with "may" in the text, which would make sanctions optional.
- Yesterday, Trump said he considered the sanctions proposed by the Senate to be "too tough."
TACO forever. Who's going to dump the Epstein tapes first, Putin or Musk? One of them needs to end this cowardly, pitiful excuse for manhood.

Ukraine’s dirty war is just getting started
Covert strikes across Russia and beyond are reshaping a conflict that shows no signs of letting up.
There are also Russian partisans either directly lending a hand or just conducting sabotage on their own.

Trump’s biggest mistake was from day one coming in as a mediator.
A mediator doesn’t take sides and his attempts to placate Putin has not worked. Putin has made Trump look bad. Very bad.

Nope.
This is what you saw, and you believed what you want to believe.
Express UK: Ukrainian mother 'duped' into delivering bomb which exploded killing her and soldier
Tragically, it appears the woman had left a small child behind at the hotel while she made the delivery.
A young mother was apparently duped into delivering a bomb to a group of Ukrainian soldiers in the city Mykolaiv which then exploded, killing herself and a soldier, and injuring six others.
Ukrainian authorities believe she was likely tricked into delivering a parcel by Russian operatives, who promised her a significant cash reward.

I've been critical of Trump at times on here so I'm not saying this as some dyed in the wool MAGA guy, though I did vote for him.
I don't think you can really call his approach a 'mistake' and then also say that Putin just doesn't want peace to begin with.
Trump tried something, it didn't work because one party wasn't genuinely interested in it working.
Now the wish washy way he has handled the issue at times? Sure, call that a mistake. And that back and forth inconsistency isn't unique to this issue when it comes to Trump.

Trump's biggest mistake in this conflict is thinking his personal "relationship" with Putin means anything. His frame for the world is all built around himself, and everybody's motivation is a "deal." He thinks if he just makes friends with bad actors (Putin, Kim, Xi) they won't want to cross him. He thinks they can all be bought off if he bluffs some financial moves against them.
If money was Putin's motivation, he could've just sat back and let Europe make him, personally, richer and richer and richer from natural gas. But he;s a dictator... dictators are paranoid. If Ukraine joined the EU, Russian peasants could wander over and get pissed at their situation and get rebellious.

Trump's mistake is not understanding who Putin really is and what he really wants. I thought he had his epiphany... but he hasn't, really.

I tracked it down... from BBCUkraine
BBC Ukraine: The Armed Forces of Ukraine lack FPV drones. Has Russia really outpaced Ukraine in the drone war?
and the gist of it seems to be distribution, not numbers... and some battalions just buying them directly from manufacturers when they don't get enough from the military procurement channels.

Ukrainian intelligence preparing new cross-border strikes like Cobweb — sources
June 6, 2025, 10:44 AM
Ukraine’s intelligence services are preparing new covert operations inside Russia similar to the recent Cobweb attack that damaged dozens of strategic bombers, The Washington Post reported on June 6, citing sources within Ukrainian intelligence.
According to WP, Ukraine’s SBU Security Service and the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Defense Ministry (HUR) have acted on their longstanding motto, “I’m coming for you,” since the full-scale invasion began. Their operations aim to shift the fight onto Russian territory and beyond, the paper noted.
Sources in Ukrainian intelligence also told WP that SBU chief Vasyl Maliuk informed President Volodymyr Zelenskyy about the Cobweb operation in advance but withheld the details from other senior officials in the President’s Office — including one of Zelenskyy’s key deputies.
