The Denver airport is uniquely weird. Out in the middle of nowhere. I have no doubt in the very least a gigantic nuclear bunker is under that airport. If the country were to form today, Denver would almost certainly be where the Capitol would be located.

The nuclear shelters are hidden in plain sight as tornado shelters. Prove me wrong Legend.

Yeah, yeah. They're there but you can't see em. Right there. Keepin em hidden by puttin a sign on em says shelter. We all know that's the control pods. We're not dumb. We're not crazy.

I do love how my mother said a week ago I was insane on forming an escape route from Denver last week and now wants to know about it thinking it’s a good idea because I’ve carefully thought about nuclear strike zones. She’s outside of any major likely blast radius thank God, but I’m not only in a major city but also nearby one of our three big sites of nuclear silos.
Dude, you just need to watch Dr. Strangelove (Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb). It won't be a constant stress then.

The problem with escape plans from a major city is you’re in gridlock with every other swinging dick trying to get outta dodge.
There are a few points where it is impossible to avoid major interstates, but overall I’ve mapped out a route.
There are 2 or 3 different routes that I’ve gone over.
This is all pre-this nonsense, mind you.
I’m just weird.

I mean sure, food will be hard to come by, but Id rather be high for the nuclear apocalypse than not.
Yeah, no shite. If we were to redesign the country, Denver or Colorado Springs would be the obvious place to locate the Capitol. The Hunger Games Capitol was here for a reason. Plenty of room to expand to the East, yet plenty of room to retreat in the West with bunkers throughout the mountains. And it’s in the dead center of the country which it’d be hard to get to. Salt Lake City would be the only one that can compare, but it doesn’t allow for as much expansion and you can be more easily cornered.

One of my favorite films and it does contain my single favorite quote ever in a film:

In all seriousness. I've got a spot picked out for the end of the world. I won't say where because Hemphead might follow me.

I stopped even thinking about prepping for nuclear war. Everybody dies. If you're one of the lucky ones it's quick and relatively painless instead of slow and agonizing.

UN Security (not NATO) proposed.
Good idea IMO and there is a way to get around a Russian veto.

It works better if you dont mention the obvious flaws.

I am not even sure the Russians or even if we can launch a bunch of Nukes. They may not allow it.

My escape routes are for everything else.
Not much you can do post-nuclear war.

If a full scale Nuclear war happens then pray you die instantly in one of the blast, because everyone else is going to be dead in a year anyway and likely be painful slow deaths
Posted on 3/9/22 at 11:58 pm to Scruffy
i mean, id rather die instantly by being close to the epicenter of a nuclear blast as opposed to surviving the initial onslaught and dying a slow painful death of radiation poisoning or living in the post apocalyptic hellscape that would be the world after said war

I understand your point but no sniper is going to waste the time and effort they spend on their hide to mist a dufus unless said dufus is about to kill a compatriot. They will wait for a high-value target to appear and do something that has a real impact on the battlefield.

That is where I have been for years, I would rather be at ground zero. Even the off the griders might make it a year and a tough one at that. Even if those homesteader/prepper folks live longer that ain't my life, I like fast cars, good scotch, and brunch. I don't ever want to live to see the day when I am trading a Nautilus for a bag of rice or beans. I would probably starve to death on principle.
