I really would like to know if any of what you stated is factual. At this point, we can’t trust anything we’re hearing out of this event.

I mean, I’m just telling you what Ukraine’s foreign minister and the IAEA have said publicly. You can Google it if you’re unsure.

I can’t speak to the accuracy of their statements considering I’m not at Chernobyl, nor am I a nuclear scientist.

I do love how my mother said a week ago I was insane on forming an escape route from Denver last week and now wants to know about it thinking it’s a good idea because I’ve carefully thought about nuclear strike zones. She’s outside of any major likely blast radius thank God, but I’m not only in a major city but also nearby one of our three big sites of nuclear silos.

Canadian snipers and Taliban joining the Ukraine Foreign Legion. Maternity hospitals getting blown up.

That Canadian sniper is going to start picking off wet-behind-the-ears, fresh Russian conscripts as they take a leak in the morning. Send home body bags to Moscow.

One thing Putin has accomplished is make it very difficult to take his ball and go home. Nobody's going to want to negotiate a settlement with the biggest war criminal since Pol Pot. This ends with him taking Ukraine and trying to hold on to it somehow, or with his head on a pike

That goes too close to the airport which in all likelihood has a major nuclear bunker under it. I will use 70, but go south towards Castle Rock and then drive East until I reach Limon. Can’t go too far south either since the Air Force Academy is in Colorado Springs. The route has to be carefully considered.

285 into Park and the high mountains. Why bother with 70 or going east?

This is within mind of saving people I love. If I’m selfish just out for myself, I’m doing 285 and going down to Buena Vista.

Gotcha.

Id keep going up to Leadville though in the just you scenario. Lake Co is surrounded by 13ers and 14ers on all sides. Plus 3 dispensaries vs zero in BV.

I mean sure, food will be hard to come by, but Id rather be high for the nuclear apocalypse than not.

Here’s the good news: outside of DFW and the nuclear silos in North Dakota, there aren’t many nuclear targets in the middle of the country once you get out of Colorado. While they may nuke the Helena bridge (in which case this plan is fricked), not much to be nuked between Colorado and Oxford if it happens. Just avoid Fort Smith and Memphis, and I should be able to reach it.

The problem with escape plans from a major city is you’re in gridlock with every other swinging dick trying to get outta dodge.
For me, I’m assuming a rough power walk out of Atlanta, trying to beat the other few million refugees to the Appalachians.

Until the scurvy sets in.

But yeah, in my spot up there could do well just popping deer off the back porch. Plus local electrical generation and clean water right off the divide.
