Putin had a press conference tonight

Putin claimed that Russia has repeatedly proposed ceasefire initiatives, which were then sabotaged by Ukraine. He also alleged that Ukraine violated ceasefires, including the Easter truce.

Putin timed this for U.S. primetime to announce that he wants Erdogan to mediate future negotiations in Istanbul effectively bypassing and ignoring Trump and his admin.
Now we have to see how Trump responds.

It is possible that new ceasefires will be agreed upon.

Erdogan is already bought and paid for. Lots of Russian oligarch money fled to Turkey in 2022. My neighbor, PhD/MD researcher at Pennington Biomedical, has a brother who is a banker in Ankara. Only Erdogan and his cronies have seen any of that Russian money and it was a massive amount. I did meet him once when here for Christmas holidays. Telling him that his face resembled a former neighbor in SoCal, Bill Ward, made he and his sister quite happy. They were big fans of Black Sabbath in their youth back in Ankara.

May 15 in Istanbul": Putin Proposed Talks with Ukraine
Vladimir Putin proposed to resume negotiations with Ukraine on May 15 in Istanbul without preconditions, emphasizing that Russia is serious about the process and that new ceasefires may be achievable.
Putin asked Erdogan to provide a platform for the talks, mentioning a scheduled conversation with him tomorrow. He added that the decision is in the hands of the Ukrainian authorities and their curators, and raised the question:
“There is a war going on, and we are offering negotiations. What’s wrong with that?”
Putin noted that Russia honors all those who contributed to the victory over Nazism and thanked the leaders who visited the Victory anniversary in Moscow, calling them people of conviction, despite Kyiv’s attempts to intimidate them with large-scale attacks from May 6 to 7, including UAVs and missiles.
Talks with the Chinese leader were fruitful, and a visit to China is scheduled for September to celebrate the victory over Japan. North Korean military personnel in the Kursk region demonstrated professionalism.

ISW Update May 10 2025
quote:
Key Takeaways:
Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov rejected another US-Ukrainian general ceasefire proposal on May 10 amid continued Russian demands that any future ceasefire include conditions that support Russia's long-term goal of gaining control of all of Ukraine and would allow Russia to resume offensive operations from a more advantageous position at a time of its choosing.
The UK and French-led Coalition of the Willing expressed support for the US-Ukrainian proposal of a general ceasefire of 30 days or more on May 10.
Iran will reportedly deliver short-range ballistic missile launchers to Russia for use in Ukraine.
The United States Embassy in Kyiv issued a statement on May 9 warning of a significant Russian air strike against Ukraine over the next several days -- potentially involving Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missiles.
US and Western military support remains vital to Ukraine's ability to defend itself against Russian aggression.
Ukrainian forces recently advanced in Kursk Oblast, and Russian forces recently advanced near Toretsk, Pokrovsk, and Kurakhove.

As Russia claims it is open to negotiations with Turkey as a mediator it is important to remember that Russia was open to negotiations with the US a mediator only 6 short months ago

As Russia claims
Let's see if Zelensky accepts direct negotiations like everyone has been calling for. I bet he doesn't. Zelensky doesn't want direct negotiations. He just wants a Ceasefire because his Army has a severe manpower issue and desperately needs a rest. There was no Ceasefire in 2022 when Zelensky had direct negotiations in Istanbul with Russia. So that excuse won't fly.

Putin slams the Kiev regime for rejecting Russia’s Victory Day ceasefire — and rebukes the U.S. for failing to uphold prior agreements:
“From May 8–10, Ukraine violated the ceasefire over 5,000 times — using 524 drones, Western missiles, and 45 unmanned sea vessels.”
He added that Kiev also ignored a 30-day moratorium on energy strikes brokered with Trump:
“Agreements were not honored. The attacks had no military value — they were political.”

Ukraine’s Allies Set Ultimatum for Ceasefire, Macron Says US Commits to Monitor Truce
A coalition of the willing that arrived in Kyiv has called for a 30-day unconditional ceasefire after a phone call with Donald Trump. Ukraine agrees. Everyone is awaiting Russia’s response.
by Kyiv Post | May 10, 2025, 7:30 pm
While on a historic visit to Kyiv, French President Emmanuel Macron said Saturday the United States had committed to monitor a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine proposed by Kyiv’s European allies.
Macron said the ceasefire “will be monitored mainly by the United States of America, to which all Europeans will contribute,” AFP reported, and that the truce would pave the way for “immediate work and negotiations on parties involved to build a robust and lasting peace.”
The statement comes as President Volodymyr Zelensky hosted leaders of France, Britain, Germany and Poland in Kyiv – an unprecedented joint visit to Ukraine for talks meant to increase pressure on Russia to accept a ceasefire.
Shortly after they arrived in the morning, Zelensky, Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer had a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump.
US President Donald Trump has proposed a 30-day unconditional ceasefire as a step to end the conflict. But Russian President Vladimir Putin has consistently found a way to sidestep any commitment to an unconditional ceasefire that would represent more than a token gesture to placate American wishes.
Ukraine and its European allies have agreed to call on Russia to accept a 30-day unconditional ceasefire starting Monday, Ukraine’s foreign minister said on Saturday.

You don't need a Ceasefire to start negotiations. There was no Ceasefire in 2022 when negotiations took place in Istanbul. Zelensky is on the clock. Start Negotiations or everyone knows your Ceasefire request is because your Military is failing. It will be clear as day

Obviously Russia believe they are losing ground in the propaganda war because they have you working full time pushing the narrative that Russia wants peace and Ukrsine doesn’t.
What happened? Checks bounced? China told Putin to finish this thing? Or Putin just wants to stall some more?

Are you truly that big of a Russian cocksucker to think the laughable Russian Air Force could actually stand up against the United States Air Force in combat? I think i’ve heard it all now! I bet you also think the Su-57 is better than the F-22 lol. A supposed 5th gen stealth fighter that isn’t stealth at all and y’all have made all of maybe 20? Please tell me how Russia could destroy everyone even without the use of nukes when they can’t even beat small Ukraine.
