Cheeseburgers Didn’t Work: Ukraine Prepares to Draft 18-Year-Olds
With volunteers running dry, Ukraine is facing a new reality: forced mobilization of young men straight out of high school.
Shamil Krutkov, commander of the 93rd Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, admitted the country will now have to lower the draft age to 18.
“Unfortunately, we’ll have to start mobilizing from 18. That’s the reality,” he said, adding that the decision should’ve been made “yesterday.”
Krutkov bluntly acknowledged the shortage of volunteers. Despite flashy Ministry of Defense ads promising iPhones, burgers, or even premium Netflix in exchange for signing up, the campaigns have mostly stirred backlash — not enlistments.
Question is: will that cheeseburger come as a bonus with the draft notice

Russian forces recently executed Ukrainian prisoners of war (POWs) in western Zaporizhia Oblast amid continued reports of systematic executions of Ukrainian POWs across the theater of war.
This won't sit well with Ukrainians who might think of surrender rather than a fight to the death.

Every day there are updates lauding how the ukrainians are "jamming" the guidance systems of Russian weapons.
Now you show the results and are upset?
What exactly do you think would happen to an armed missile when its guidance system is compromised?
An excellent post that the Fellas all hustled to downvote

Oh the horror! Unreal that a nation could even think of drafting 18 year olds to go fight. That would never happen in the US, right?
WRONG
I’m just surprised Ukraine waited this long.

Didn’t Russia trumpet the attack on the restaurant as an intelligence coup? Didn’t they blow up some kind of officer’s meeting. The fire hosers need to get their story straight.

Key Takeaways:
US Special Envoy to Ukraine General Keith Kellogg expressed support on April 11 for the deployment of an allied "reassurance force" in the rear areas of western Ukraine after a possible future ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia.
Russian state-owned and pro-Kremlin media amplified a Russian official's blanket rejection of any peacekeeping force in Ukraine on April 12.
Russian forces have resumed a more typical strike pattern in late March and early April 2025 after a temporary spike in the size of Russian long-range strike packages in mid-February and early March 2025.
People's Republic of China (PRC) military officials reportedly visited the frontline in Ukraine to glean insights for future warfare amid reports that at least 155 Chinese nationals are fighting in Ukraine.
Ukraine’s European partners announced additional military aid packages within the context of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (the Ramstein format) meeting on April 11.
Ukrainian forces recently advanced near Kurakhove, and Russian forces recently advanced in Sumy Oblast and near Toretsk and Pokrovsk.

There are degrees of losers. Ukraine hasn’t been conquered. If Russia intends to do that then they will have to spend a lot of money and lose lots of lives. It’s not black and white.
If Russia is tired of losing, they can deal. If they aren’t they won’t, but they aren’t going to announce their intentions.
