I don’t think the USA is evil but we definitely invaded Iraq because we just felt like it and then occupied it for about 15 years.

I won't deny that the group of Republicans in W Bush's administration had been looking for a reason to go back into Iraq and take down Hussein since the end of Desert Storm, when the Saudis - who were also acting to protect from his forces next - made us stop at the Iraq/Kuwait border... because they knew that removing Saddam would put Iraq into the hands of the majority Shi'ite Muslim population, instead of Saddams Ba'athist/Sunni minority population... and another Shi'ite State would be a natural ally of Khomeni Iran... and that would be bad. We did eventually... it's not really good.

To make it worse, they used to have a website up for their "Project for A New American Century" that talked about using American military force to bring Democracy, Freedom and Capitalism to the Middle East, with Iraq as a prime target... with all their signatures on it. Noam Chomsky was pointing to that during the 2000 election as reasons to not vote for Ralph Nader for cool leftist points... "these people are dangerous... we don't need them in charge of National Security decisions."

I don’t think Russia would’ve annexed Ukraine anyways. I think they would’ve installed a puppet government

Same difference... look at Belarus. It is not a sovereign independent country... Putin seems like he doesn't even want to bother with that charade there, anymore.

quote:

like we did in Iraq.

eh... Iraq is much, much, much, much closer to being a puppet state of Iran than to the US at this point.

We initially invaded to drive Iraq out of Kuwait and away from Saudi Arabia.

He was talking about the sequel...

Iraq was a puppet state when were occupying it. We lost and now it’s Iran’s puppet state. Just like Russia essentially lost the war when the northern front failed in its drive to Kiev.

Russian Disinformation ‘Infects’ AI Chatbots, Researchers Warn

The Pravda network, a Moscow-based operation to spread Russian narratives globally, is said to be distorting the output of chatbots by flooding large language models with pro-Kremlin falsehoods.

by AFP | Mar. 10, 2025, 12:45 pm

A sprawling Russian disinformation network is manipulating Western AI chatbots to spew pro-Kremlin propaganda, researchers say, at a time when the United States is reported to have paused its cyber operations against Moscow.

The Pravda network, a well-resourced Moscow-based operation to spread pro-Russian narratives globally, is said to be distorting the output of chatbots by flooding large language models (LLM) with pro-Kremlin falsehoods.

A study of 10 leading AI chatbots by the disinformation watchdog NewsGuard found that they repeated falsehoods from the Pravda network more than 33 percent of the time, advancing a pro-Moscow agenda.

The findings underscore how the threat goes beyond generative AI models picking up disinformation circulating on the web, and involves the deliberate targeting of chatbots to reach a wider audience in a manipulation tactic that researchers call “LLM grooming.”

“Massive amounts of Russian propaganda -- 3,600,000 articles in 2024 -- are now incorporated in the outputs of Western AI systems, infecting their responses with false claims and propaganda,” NewsGuard researchers McKenzie Sadeghi and Isis Blachez wrote in a report.

In a separate study, the nonprofit American Sunlight Project warned of the growing reach of the Pravda network -- sometimes also known as “Portal Kombat” -- and the likelihood that its pro-Russian content was flooding the training data of large language models.

by the way Newsguard credentials are top shelf...

NewsGuard wiki

For example

As of June 2024, Newsguard rated Fox News at 69.5, Breitbart News at 49.5, the The New Republic at 92.5, Mother Jones at 69.5, and The Washington Post at 100.[30] In 2024 it downgraded The New York Times from 100 to 87.5 for not distinguishing clearly enough between opinion and fact.[30] CEO L. Gordon Crovitz said in 2024, "Under NewsGuard's apolitical rating system, many conservative outlets outscore similar left-leaning brands: The Daily Caller outscores The Daily Beast, the Daily Wire outscores the Daily Kos, Fox News outscores MSNBC and The Wall Street Journal outscores the New York Times."[2] Sites that had previously ignored the extension, such as MailOnline, objected to being listed as unreliable.[31] The decision to list MailOnline as unreliable was reversed in 2019, and NewsGuard admitted they were wrong on some counts.[32]

Incorrect. It's a Deepstate funded by USAID operation. That's why Microsoft dropped them after it was revealed they were funded by USAID

Not anymore. Trump cut 83% of that shite out.

Gone. Gone. Gone. Corrupt dems/leftists have lost their slush fund. That with the Green New Scam.
Gone. Gone. Gone.

Some of the shills in this thread probably received a check from USAID.

wrong. They only made a one time donation to begin with. All of your sketchy anonymous embeds would be flagged by NewsGuard.

In December 2024, Sen. Cruz sent a letter requesting information about Microsoft’s financial support of NewsGuard’s “Media Literacy” program and efforts to silence conservative viewpoints.

In response to Sen. Cruz’s letter, Microsoft claimed their support of NewsGuard was limited to a one-time donation in 2018 and asked NewsGuard to remove the claim on its website that “NewsGuard’s Media Literacy Programs are made possible thanks to generous support from Microsoft.” NewsGuard has since removed mention of Microsoft on its website.

How do you get paid? Do you get a volume bonus? Per post? How many web sites do you “enjoy”?

If the war is over tomorrow do you keep your job?
