Wasn't this a problem at the start, though? No need for a backdoor, I thought something just made the terminals easy to detect?

If tweet fails to load, click here. This attack on Moscow tonight is definitely going to ramp things up quite a bit. This is an enormous escalation IMHO.

What the heck? I can't stand Zelenskyy.
They're literally pinpoint targeting civilian buildings. This is actual terrorism being celebrated by woke "progressives".

You are a complete joke. Compared to Russia bombing shopping centers, daycare centers, hospitals, churches... and then doing a double tap to kill first responders.
These seem underpowered, explosives-wise, just to make a point... that they could bring the war to Moscow if they wanted. Ukraine is better than that, though. They're not trying to kill civilians. Putin does that more than anything else.

What is Russia going to do? Launch millions of dollars worth of missiles into civilian buildings in Ukraine... like they do every week?

The Hill: GOP Rep. Bacon: Trump repeating Taliban mistake in Ukraine talks
Rep. Don Bacon (R-Neb.) said President Trump is repeating mistakes he made in Afghanistan by not including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in talks to end his country’s war with Russia.
“It’s a terrible mistake not to have the Ukrainian leader in the talks,” Bacon said in an interview with CNN’s Pamela Brown on Monday.
“We’ve seen a history of this. I remember when the Trump administration was negotiating with the Taliban without the Afghan government. That really weakened the Afghan government thereafter,” he added.
The Trump administration brokered a deal with the Taliban in 2020 that laid out a plan for the U.S. to fully withdraw from Afghanistan by May 2021 if the group upheld certain commitments, such as denying safe haven to al Qaeda.

I dug into some of the broader context to make sense of this. Back in November 2024, Ukraine launched what was then called its biggest drone attack on Moscow, with 34 drones downed and one civilian killed. Tonight’s assault seems to have upped the ante, both in numbers and audacity. Russian officials have been tight-lipped about casualties so far, sticking to the line that damage was “minimal.” But you can feel the tension in their statements—Sobyanin’s posts had that clipped, controlled tone of someone trying to keep a lid on public alarm.
What strikes me most is how personal this feels for Muscovites. For years, the war has been something distant—fought in Ukraine’s fields and cities, not here in the capital’s backyard. Now, drones are buzzing over apartment blocks, and people are waking up to smoke and sirens. One X user posted about hearing “massive” explosions near their home, while another shared a shaky video of a fire in Sofyino, a village just outside Moscow. It’s raw, unfiltered stuff—far from the sanitized reports you get from official channels.
This attack comes amid a brutal tit-for-tat aerial campaign. Just yesterday, Russia hammered Kharkiv with missiles, injuring dozens, and Ukraine’s been ramping up its own long-range strikes—think oil refineries in Volgograd and ammo depots in Tver. Tonight’s events fit that pattern: a Ukrainian push to bring the fight to Russia’s doorstep, maybe to force a rethink in the Kremlin or just to prove they can still hit hard. With peace talks looming in Saudi Arabia and Trump’s administration pushing for an endgame, the timing feels deliberate—like both sides are flexing before sitting down at the table.
For now, Moscow’s picking up the pieces. The fires are out, or so they say, and the airports might reopen soon. But the unease lingers. I can’t help wondering what’s next—will Russia retaliate with another barrage on Kyiv, or is this the start of something bigger? One thing’s for sure: tonight’s explosions have shaken the capital, and the war feels closer than ever to those who thought they’d never see it up close.

800 Russians made it through the gas pipeline and caused the breakthrough in the Kursk region

?
The claim about Russian soldiers infiltrating Kursk via a gas pipeline has some truth but is exaggerated. Reports confirm Russian special forces tried crawling through a 1.4m-wide unused pipeline to hit Ukrainian units near Sudzha. Ukraine’s General Staff says they caught them early, hit back with rockets, and wiped out most of the group—about 80% per Euromaidan Press. No evidence supports "hundreds" of soldiers pulling this off successfully or Ukraine retreating because of it. Russian losses were heavy, and the tactic mirrors a failed attempt in Avdiivka. Real story: a desperate move that backfired hard.

Speaking of widespread attacks and destruction, Donnie's push for the "Russian Man of the Year" award is on track. It's now officially the Trump Recession.
S&P 500 is now down 7.45% in the last 30 days. That's $4 trillion of value wiped off the American shares. Thanks Shine Boy.
And one of the leading lights of the US technology sector is tanking and is predicted to be bankrupt by the end of the year. Ketamine is a helluva drug.

What is Russia going to do?
They should do what they always do when hit Ukrainian infrastructure
1) it wasn't ours it was air defense debris
2) yes we hit but it was actually housing hundreds of thousands of military personnel
3) yes it got hit but it was actually a Ukrainian false flag
4) refuse to acknowledge it happened at all

Just checked Lee B's posting history.
20 consecutive posts, all in this one thread. Probably more than that, but his recent history lists only 20.
