Given that the Trump people did nothing to induce Russia to end the war, it’s fair to conclude that the whole idea of pursuing peace was just a pretext to renew relations with Russia.
Don't forget "Putin went through a lot with me!!!"
That's one for the history books... until books are outlawed.

, but Ukraine was never going to win this war
I didn’t think they had a chance, but three years later Putin is relying on Trump to bring it to snd end because he hadn’t been able to do it.

. Russia taking Ukraine is not a threat to us. Russia is a regional power threatening some of its immediate neighbors
Germany was just a regional power threatening their neighbors, so was Japan. Iraq was too and they forced us to get involved when they took Kuwait and threatened the Saudis. The globe is too small for us to sit and watch. Bug that’s my opinion.
quote:
My question to you is why weren’t you this involved in 2014 when Obama put a couple sanctions on them for invading Crimea. They still held the Winter Olympics that year. I mean c’’mon. Very disingenuous on your part but hey virtue signal all you want it’s 2025 now.
In 2014 Ukrsine should have been a bigger issue. Obama and Europe let Russia skate on that invasion, and that led to this bigger one. In 2016 Trump at least provided Ukraine with defensive weapons. Obama sent blankets.
And where does the notion that if you aren’t willing to bear arms you lose your right to your opinion? I see people supporting Israel and no one challenges them to go fight Hamas. I see people clamoring for border control, but those people aren’t going to Texas to help. I see people criticizing FEMA about h Ed loping unfortunates in disaster areas, but these people don’t go to N Carolina, Florida or California to help.
Why should U be expected to shut up if I support Ukraine just because I am not on the front lines? Why are just pro Ukrainians challenged? Why aren’t pro Russians?

Cypher it’s too late, I support Ukrsine; however, they have the wrong guy leading them now. He needs to resign. He screwed up.

We know you are stupid but you can't be that stupid....Oh wait, You voted for Kamala President Trump won the election because people are tired of our government supporting other Countries more than their own Citizens. JD Vance also became a Rockstar yesterday. This is going to be a long 12 years for you
Trump won the election because some minority working class males don't show up to vote for female Presidential candidates (look at how Trump won Arozona while Kari Lake got smoked, or how Stein in North Carolina got 171,000 more votes than Trump and Dems won most statewide offices, there)... and some Michigan voters protest voted/did not vote over Gaza (and boy are they regretting that one, now)...
Lessons learned all around. Don't go doing 12-year victory laps just yet...

Who replaces him and who decides? You put all your eggs in the manlet basket and now you're stuck with him. You won't dare hold an election - if you did Putin himself would probably win.
All the obvious lies you've swallowed for all these years have finally caught up with you cowards.

Letter to the editor: The Oval Office fiasco was a calculated setup to humiliate Ukraine and undermine democracy
March 1, 2025 6:46 PM
The recent Oval Office meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wasn’t just a diplomatic disaster — it was a setup.
From the moment Zelensky walked into that room, the stage had already been set. This wasn’t about serious discussions on aid or strategy. It was about weakening Ukraine, pressuring its leader, and crafting a narrative that justifies pulling back U.S. support.
Trump’s accusation that Zelensky was “gambling with World War III” and Vice President J.D. Vance’s rebuke for supposed “ingratitude” weren’t off-the-cuff remarks. They were planned. Carefully constructed talking points designed to turn Zelensky from an ally into a liability in the eyes of the American public.
And the goal? To shift blame away from Russia, excuse future inaction, and force Ukraine into a losing position — all while making it look like Zelensky’s fault.
Let’s be clear: Zelensky didn’t walk into a discussion. He walked into a trap.
Rather than focusing on ways to strengthen Ukraine’s defenses, Trump and Vance ambushed him — portraying Ukraine as a dependent nation that demands too much and gives too little. It was an act of public humiliation, not diplomacy.
By demanding that Zelensky negotiate with Vladimir Putin — a man who has lied, invaded, and slaughtered without hesitation — Trump isn’t pushing for peace. He’s pushing for Ukrainian surrender.

I didn’t put any eggs in any baskets. Ukrainians elected the man just as we elected Trump. Wdd Ed have had a president resign for the good of the nation, so can Ukraine.

The EU is spending more money on Russian fossil fuels than on financial aid to Ukraine, a report marking the third anniversary of the invasion has found.
EU member states bought €21.9bn (£18.1bn) of Russian oil and gas in the third year of the war, according to estimates from the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (Crea), despite the efforts under way to kick the continent’s addiction to the fuels that fund Vladimir Putin’s war chest.
The amount is one-sixth greater than the €18.7bn the EU allocated to Ukraine in financial aid in 2024, according to a tracker from the Kiel Institute for the World Economy (IfW Kiel).

I'm glad this is being spotlighted... so it can be stopped.

LOL. They were on to the last question until Zyyyyys Adderall kicked in fully and he started the feud.
This is ignoring the fact that Zyyy refused WH request to wear a suit (Trump knows what he's doing - that would have clearly been a significant visual cue to the world that the little general was transitioning to a period of diplomacy). Zyyy just HAD to spite Trump and wear his stupid Bono outfit and look disgusting as usual.
Remember the "Kyiv Independent" was funded by Shitlib central USAID. You are literally posting propaganda.

That's a curious set of delusions and excuses turning a blind eye to the border invasion, men playing in women's sports, perverted sexual mutilation of children, insanely reckless spending, inflation and wanton corruption in the justice system. Try running a candidate that isn't a dim-witted font of word salad next time.

There is a big lesson here... we didn't stop it then, and look what happened later.
Obama's foreign policy was to not really have a foreign policy, short of the surge in Iraq and droning anyone who'd ever so much as delivered a pizza to Al Qaeda operatives... but deterring Iran from going nuclear was a focus (with intense interest from Israel). At the time, after the W Bush debacles (funny how no one alive was on their side in that now, isn't it?) the public rejected McCain's foreign policy (kind of a backed off W Bush) and Romney's (which, if you remember, was "Putin is the number one threat that must be addressed!").
Obama prioritized Russia/Putin's help in that Iran non-nuclear deal... but he did more for Ukraine than just blankets, he just did it behind the scenes and secretly. Not Javelins, which would be easily identified as being supplied by the US, but training, arming and helping restructure their military... which paid off when Russia did invade in 2022.

Sorry, but that's just BS.
After watching the entire presser and listening to Rubio on CNN and Zelensky on Fox last night, It is clear that it wasn't some predetermined setup.

CNN: Fact-checking Trump’s claim that Obama gave Ukraine ‘pillows and sheets’
By March 2015, the US had committed more than $120 million in security assistance for Ukraine and had pledged an additional $75 million worth of equipment including UAVs, counter-mortar radars, night vision devices and medical supplies, according to the Pentagon’s Defense Security Cooperation Agency.
That assistance also included some 230 armored Humvee vehicles.
