So Ttump wants to end the war. Fine.
All he needs to do to help this along is announce that the US will not send anymore aid to Ukraine.
Why would he feel the need to promise no NATO for Ukraine, pull US troops out of Europe, and eliminate sanctions on Russia?
If all whst was listed above is real, why give up the store and then some.

Yeah, we kept the first 500 or so political crap free. Then the political posters slithered in and not enough regulars protested, so Mr Chicken really had to let them stay. Its been ruined since then.

Russian officials in Saudi Arabia began what will likely be an ongoing effort to push the United States into accepting Russian offers of economic and investment measures in lieu of any actual Russian concessions on Ukraine.

Russian large-scale strike on Odesa: over 250,000 city residents without electricity and heating
Ivan Diakonov — Wednesday, 19 February 2025, 05:10
The Russians launched a large-scale strike on the city of Odesa on the evening of 18 February. A significant part of the city has been left without electricity, water and heating and social infrastructure facilities have been damaged as a result of the attack.
Source: Odesa Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov
Quote: "A significant number of buildings was left without electricity, water, and heating as a result of a large-scale enemy strike on a densely populated area of the city.
Hospitals, outpatient clinics and social infrastructure facilities have been left without heat."
Details: Trukhanov reported the deployment of an operational headquarters to assess the damage and restore the work of public services.
He noted that specialists are actively working to deal with emergency situations and provide assistance to those affected.
Updated: Trukhanov shared updated information on the situation in the city at 05:05.
He said 14 schools, 13 kindergartens and a large residential district with over 500 buildings were left without electricity and heating due to the Russian attack.
Quote: "One of the largest districts of our city, which is home to over 250,000 residents, has been left without heating and electricity.
We already understand that the situation with heating is very difficult, so we are making the decision to drain the water to prevent the system from freezing and worsening the situation.

Well, I've only been posting here for maybe 200 or 300 pages, out of 4500+ so don't blame me... I've been reading it from the start, though, and appreciate the insights.
I suggested that my buddy who spent a year fighting for Ukraine post here... he took a look and said "I didn't survive months in Bakhmut just to die from a rage stroke arguing with some Putin-lover on that damned site!'

Yes... and you've had more faith in Trump than I ever did... I was actually shocked at his tirade today. I saw John Bolton saying this is what Trump would do yesterday but even I didn't believe it.

quote:Sanctions relief = "Economic cooperation". Changing the narrative by camoflaging the language.
Demitriev denied that Moscow primarily sought to lift sanctions against Russia, claiming instead that both the United States and Russia would benefit from economic cooperation.
As we've discussed before, Russia's primary and overwhelming problem are the sanctions. The flow chart of all of Putin's problems start with them. We will therefore see endless discussion points coming from Moscow, all with one common factor - ending sanctions.
Right now the entire Trump team save Kellogg are proving the adage that a microphone is an idiot stick, preventing all higher level thought in the person it's pointed at. They're all still in the election mode, trying to outdo each other in impressing the MAGA crowd. So I'm concerned but not yet worried about these negotiations.
The acid test of Trump's association with Putin will be whether or not he agrees to - and implements - sanctions relief for Russia.

The point is, you pro-Ukraine bros say we should be spending US tax-payer money to "defend democracy". But Ukraine is not a democracy. So what is our US tax-payer money defending?
I am not pro-Russia. I despise Putin.
I am pro-US tax-payer.

The European Union is working on an initiative to provide Ukraine with additional military support as soon as possible this year, according to a document seen by Bloomberg News.
As a US tax-payer, I'm glad someone else is willing to take over the responsibility for funding.
But this will lead to only 2 things:
1 - more death and destruction on both sides.
2 - an opportunity for EU politicians to grift like their US counterparts have been doing.

By defending their country and killing Russians they are hurting Russia
Only because the US tax-payer is subsidizing them. Once we stop, they won't be able to maintain the fight.

Naw, at that time there was a lot of fighting and movement on the ground and the guys here wanted to talk about that. But, the political board wanted to talk about things like how the sino-vietnam war was influencing everything happening today, or some garbage like that. Chicken agreed with us and we kept the political crap off this board. But later, some of our main posters gave in and the political crap is here. But, its easy to just not read those posters viewpoints and the war is stalemated on the ground so I dont care.

US promises Europe to maintain sanctions against Russia at least until Ukraine peace deal, Bloomberg reports
by Kateryna Hodunova February 19, 2025 2:25 PM
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio assured European allies that the U.S. would maintain sanctions against Moscow at least until an agreement is reached to end the Russia-Ukraine war, Bloomberg reported on Feb. 19, citing its undisclosed sources.
In the nearly three years since the full-scale invasion, the U.S. has implemented several rounds of sanctions on Russia to undermine its efforts to continue its war in Ukraine. Restrictions have been imposed on banks, the gas and oil industries, and the delivery of dual-use goods, among other spheres.
Following talks between the U.S. and Russian delegations in Saudi Arabia on Feb. 18, Rubio suggested that lifting sanctions against Russia would be part of any peace process, saying that "concessions" would have to be made by "all sides" to bring an end to "any conflict."
Rubio added that the EU would "have to be at the table at some point because they have sanctions as well that have been imposed."
According to Bloomberg, Rubio subsequently assured European colleagues in a phone call that the sanctions would not be lifted at least until a settlement could be reached.

Russia behind Trump's false claim of 4% approval rating, Zelensky says
by Martin Fornusek and The Kyiv Independent news desk February 19, 2025 12:52 PM
Ukraine understands that U.S. President Donald Trump's false claim that President Volodymyr Zelensky holds a 4% approval rating comes from Russia, Zelensky said during a press conference on Feb. 19.
"We saw this disinformation. We understand it comes from Russia. We understand, and we have evidence that those figures have been discussed between the U.S. and Russia," Zelensky said.
Trump made the claim on Feb. 18 without providing evidence, presenting it as an argument that Ukraine should hold elections soon. Speaking the same day when a U.S. delegation met top Russian officials for talks in Saudi Arabia without Ukraine's participation, Trump also laid the blame for the war on Kyiv.
According to the latest poll from Reuters published Feb. 19, Trump's own approval rating currently stands at 44%.
Kremlin propaganda has pushed the narrative that Zelensky is an illegitimate leader, relying on the premise that his first presidential term was originally meant to end on May 20, 2024.
The false allegation ignores the fact that the Ukrainian constitution prohibits elections during martial law, which went into effect after Russia launched the full-scale invasion in 2022.
While voicing his respect for Trump and the American people, Zelensky said that the U.S. president "sadly lives in this disinformation space." Zelensky also pointed to the latest survey that put the president's approval rating at 57%, adding that efforts to replace him at this moment would not be successful.

EU Keeps Up ‘Pressure’ on Russia With New Sanctions
The wide-ranging package -- which includes a ban on imports of Russian aluminium -- will be formally adopted by EU foreign ministers on Monday, the third anniversary of Kremlin’s invasion of Ukraine.
by AFP | February 19, 2025, 12:43 pm
EU countries on Wednesday agreed a new round of sanctions on Russia, diplomats said, as the bloc looks to keep up pressure in the face of US talks with Russia.
The wide-ranging package -- which includes a ban on imports of Russian aluminium -- will be formally adopted by EU foreign ministers on Monday, the third anniversary of Kremlin’s invasion of Ukraine.
The EU’s 16th round of sanctions on Russia comes as US President Donald Trump has undercut Kyiv and its European backers by launching efforts with Russia’s Vladimir Putin to end the war.
“The EU is clamping down even harder on circumvention by targeting more vessels in Putin’s shadow fleet and imposing new import and export bans,” European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen wrote on X.
“We are committed to keep up the pressure on the Kremlin.”

Trump is working for what is best for the US by not dropping anything more into an unwinnable situation.
He doesn't give a damn about Zelensky or this war other than ending it.
Which is exactly what he should do
