Russia is moving the equipment from the other bases in Syria to the Tartus and Hmeymim bases. Nice try NAFO troll. Reality is about to hit you like a ton of bricks
Good grief, you should try to keep up with the thread, so that you don't look like an idiot by posting old, fake news already overtaken by facts on the ground.

Your own tweet you attached disputes exactly what you say is happening. Yes, Russia is leaving many of their bases around Syria with their equipment. Has nothing to do with remaining at Tartus and Khmeimim. Nothing that has happened today changes the report from Bloomberg yesterday. You are wishcasting like you do throughout this thread

Syrian soldiers began running away AFTER Russian "advisors" ran away from frontline positions.

4000 pages ago they said the war was over. Now they are saying soon. What does that mean? We have been seeing that for month after month.

The influx of Politards tonight should mean like it has everytime in the past almost 3 years, that Russia is about to get it arse kicked hard.

That was a very long two weeks special operation.
Never thought that Russia would roll through since the Ukraine forces were more substantial than the massed invaders.

Wrong. We got the report yesterday that German intelligence assessed that Russia is completely leaving those bases. We got reports from inside Syria that Russia is completely leaving those bases. A Russian milblogger reported that the tentative agreement was that Russia would completely withdraw within 75 days (though of course it was mentioned that maybe new negotiations during that time will allow them to stay.
But really, if there were any chance of them staying at those bases, they wouldn't have packed up and evacuated the S-400 system that is critical for their security there -- that's just common sense.
ETA: Of course, there was also yesterday's announcement of the cessation of Russian wheat shipments to Syria, which is really the clincher, because wheat is one of the very few ways that Russia could partially compensate Syria for the use of those bases.
When you claim that I am wishcasting, that is what is called "projection."

The outcome was known. Russia would keep some territory in an arbitrated ending.
Ukraine never had the men, and our furnishing weapons just prolonged the outcome
This was predicted early on, y'all didn't want to accept it.

Yes, as you stated, the Bloomberg report on the Russians keeping their bases is now seen as wrong. In the age of drone warfare, without total control of NW Syria the security of these bases is not possible.
What is interesting is that the Syrian HTS is allowing the Russians to leave unmolested. After nine years of Russians murdering Syrian civilians in terror bombings and propping up the narco-dictator Assad, you would think the Syrians in control of these areas would be extracting as much payback as they can. But outside of a few insults towards passing Russian trucks, nothing is happening. This tells us who’s really in control – Erdogan.
After causing the Russian loss of everything they have in Syria, Erdogan is trying to balance his standing with Putin by calling off the dogs and allowing the bases to be evacuated peacefully. Which makes things interesting for the near future of Syria. I am never getting my hopes up about the future of any Middle Eastern country, however with this withdrawal and the lack of reported attacks on Syrian minorities, the news so far is all good. Erdogan may be able to keep a lid on things on his southern border. Fingers crossed.

100%. I still say Erdogan will see that Putin keeps those bases. Putin and Russia are not happy with him right now, so Erdogan needs a peace offering to try to weasel himself back into good graces. Erdogan is a scoundrel.

ISW Update Dec 13
quote:
Key Takeaways:
Russian forces conducted their largest series of missile and drone strikes against Ukraine since the start of the war overnight on December 12 to 13, largely targeting Ukrainian energy infrastructure.
Russia's strike series targeting Ukrainian energy facilities is part of a broader campaign aimed at freezing out Ukraine in Winter 2024-2025 and compelling Ukraine and the West to self-deter into making policy decisions that benefit Russia.
Ukrainian strikes against military airfields in Russia and Russian air defense systems in near rear areas may be prompting a decrease in Russian air operations and glide bomb strikes against Ukraine.
Russia is evacuating elements of its force grouping in Syria while continuing negotiations with select Syrian groups about Russia's longer-term military presence in the country.
The status of Russia's helicopter base at Qamishli in northeastern Syria remains unclear, however.
The US Department of Defense (DoD) announced on December 12 a new military aid package for Ukraine valued at $500 million.
A Russian insider source who has previously correctly predicted command changes within the Russian military responded to recent claims that the Russian military command removed 3rd Combined Arms Army (formerly 2nd Luhansk People's Republic Army Corps) commander Major General Dmitry Ovcharov.
Russian forces recently advanced near Pokrovsk and Vuhledar.
Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded Rosgvardia Head Viktor Zolotov with the Hero of Russia award.

The outcome was known? You had better tell Russia. Their aim was to roll in and take Kiev, Kherson and Odessa and topple the Ukrainian government
The war has not gone as predicted Sure Russia may wind up with a substantial amount of Ukraine, but if an independent Ukraine still stands. Russia is paying an extreme price for territory they gave away 35 or 40 years ago.
