That question makes zero sense unless you buy into Russian propaganda. As percent of GDP, we are spending next to nothing compared to almost any year for the last 80+ years. What has brought us into financial problems is social spending here in the USA with not a lot to show for it.

It wasn't supposed to make practical sense. He said he wanted Ukraine to win at all costs barring a few specific things... none of which were driving the US into financial ruin. So I asked if he would be ok with that.
You sure do need help interpreting things for someone who supposedly knows so much. Maybe English isn't your first language?
Do you speak Ukrainian?

Nope. I actually follow the twitter accounts of people who pay for satellite photos and count the pieces of equipment -- Stormy quoted one of them on the previous page. Following primary sources is much better than relying only on media (who get lot wrong, even when they aren't biased).

Based on the latest.polls, I think most Ukrainians would give Zelensky to the Russians to get rid of him.
This has been true for at least 18 months

Medicare and Social Security are driving America into financial ruin. Aid to Ukraine isn't a penny on the dollar of our problems.

I absolutely did not believe that this would happen. If it does, I'll apologize to AU for arguing with him on this topic

You have to keep in mind the time period here.
Colonialism is a complex topic. There were pros and cons on all sides. Diving fully into that topic would be a detraction here. Attitudes of the time period did result emerging powers like Germany feeling like they were being left behind the colonial empire curve though.
What is interesting is, in a thread where intense vitriol focuses on presumptions that Russia is attempting to rebuild it's old empire, that any of the same folks would query the irony of regimes being supported for creating and defending similar empires.

Ukraine winning is absolutely the better outcome, I just don't think its worth the cost to get there and I'm not sure its even possible. If our leadership is only doing this to bleed Russia dry while using Ukrainian lives to do it and they know eventually Ukraine will lose, that is extremely barbaric and absolutely not worth it.

What a total nut.

1) It hasn't happened yet, and it might not, so no egg on my face right now.
2) When I'm wrong, I admit it. When have you done that in this thread?
3) Don't you realize how ridiculous you look when you post ridiculous lies like "ABC News reports that one million Ukrainians have died"? Anyone in this thread with half a brain knows that it isn't true that ABC would report that, and also that it's absurdly false.

GOP_Tiger said: I've heard some people speculating that Russia might somehow be able to make a deal with HTS to keep its bases there, and I just think that's wildly implausible and can't imagine why HTS would agree to it, no matter how much money promised.
VolSquatch said: If HTS does gain power in Syria, its not like the west is going to work with them. I think it makes sense for both sides. HTS won't stay in power on its own.
You'll have a lot of answers to the test when you start to realize stuff that makes sense for both sides is what tends to actually happen.

I think that Russian combat power is about to decline as they face shortages of armor and artillery.
How long have we be hearing this? Two years?

By the way, I think we can already clearly see this in Kursk, where Russia is still launching massive assaults (at significant cost) and taking almost no ground back for the last several weeks.

I wish those with similar viewpoints to mine would better articulate their issues with Zelensky. He clearly didn't start this. Even if you think the west is totally responsible, he is just a puppet in that scenario.
I do disagree with a lot of things he says and does though.

He is right, but he should have the awareness to know that he shouldn't have said so until after a peace deal is made.
If he just walked into office that is a policy already in place by his predecessor so he takes almost no blame for continuing it, and its a bargaining chip he could use against Putin.
Now that he came out and said this, there will be pressure on him to un-authorize the strikes.

Robbing barrels to replace worn out barrels.
Already piles of junk MTBs and IFVs along with repairable armor which have been tracked via satellite photos by Covert Cabal on YouTube for a few years now. Initially they counted all hulls sitting there, then started commenting about the junk all parked where no one could even walk between them due total junk.
All of the clueless people act like satellite recon has to be CIA or military when there are plenty of private providers with their own satellites than just Google Earth or Google satellite view.
Interesting conversation with our homeowner insurance company about how many out of state companies are using satellite recon to tell policy holders that they have to cut down certain trees near their homes, as of lately.
Now I know why a former next door neighbor wanted me to cut down a tree because one limb kinda sorta hung over his home because of his out of state insurance company mandating it or were to cancel his policy. Instead he had a few limbs trimmed after we discussed it and it seemed to satisfy them.

Kadyrov's response to a Ukrainian drone strike on a barracks in Chechnya: 84,000 volunteers are now ready to go to the frontline if ordered.
Chechens have proven to be completely useless on the Russian side except for shooting deserters. Putin won't allow Chechnya to have an actual well-trained and effective combat force, because it would probably turn on him eventually. They're the Logan Pauls of the military sector... just Instagram/Tik Tok warriors who spend all day lifting weights and grooming their beards.
The fearsome Chechens of legend were all slaughtered by Putin and Kadyrov's father in a doublecross or fled... and a lot of them have volunteered to fight for Ukraine because destabilizing Putin will allow them to overthrow Kadyrov and gain Independence for Chechnya.
I also have to severely doubt the 84,000 number...
But Chechens are as protected from the front lines as Moscovites and St. Petersburg citizens...
