ISW Update Sept 28th

quote:

Key Takeaways:

Western officials continue to highlight efforts by the People's Republic of China (PRC) to support the Russian war effort in Ukraine.

Ukrainian media reported on September 28 that unspecified Russian resistance movements, in coordination with the Ukrainian Main Military Intelligence Directorate (GUR), killed the Head of the Russian Ministry of Defense's (MoD) 924th State Center for Unmanned Aviation Colonel Aleksei Kolomeystev in Koloma, Moscow Oblast.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) strongly condemned on September 28 Israel’s “political assassination” of Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.

Russian forces recently marginally advanced in Kursk Oblast.

Russian forces recently advanced near Kupyansk, Selydove, and Vuhledar.

Russia is reportedly implementing legislation that allows Russian authorities to release those accused of crimes from criminal liabilities if the accused signs a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD).

INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
UPDATE ON UKRAINE
29 September 2024

Overnight on 20-21 September 2024, Ukrainian forces struck Russian ammunition depots at Tikhoretsk in Krasnodar and another site at Toropets in Tver with UAVs. This followed a previous successful strike at another depot in Toropets on 18 September that almost certainly destroyed at least 30,000 tons of ammunition in open and bunker storage.

The strikes will almost certainly cause, at a minimum, short-term disruption to Russian artillery and small-arms munitions supplies, critical resources in a war of attrition dominated by mass fires. The total tonnage of ammunition destroyed across the three sites represents the largest loss of Russian and North Korean supplied ammunition during the war.

These major strikes in quick succession demonstrate that, despite Russia deploying an extensive layered air-defence posture (including fighter jets) surrounding Ukraine, they continue to struggle against Ukrainian UAVs employed in deep-strike operations into Russia. It is highly likely this will force further dispersals in the Russian logistics chain for fear of additional strikes, increasing the burden on an already stretched system.

Ukrainian attack on Russian missile depot involved 120-strong drone swarm - source

29.09.2024 14:27

Overnight Sunday, September 29, Ukraine’s security and defense executed a coordinated drone attack on a missile storage arsenal in Russia’s Volgograd region.

This was reported to Ukrinform by a source in intelligence circles.

"Overnight on September 29, as a result of a joint operation by the HUR defense intelligence, SFO, SBU security service, SZR foreign intelligence, and AFU, an arsenal where missiles, ammunition, and powerful explosives are stored was hit in the village of Kotluban, Russia’s Volgograd region," the source said.

According to Ukrainian intelligence sources, the arsenal located over 600 km from the drone launch site was attacked around 2:30 on September 29 with 120 one-way attack drones of various types, all produced in Ukraine.

Loud blasts were heard in the area of ??the impact before a massive fire started, social media platforms Russia reported.

Had no one stepped in for Ukraine I believe this would have ended long ago. I'm sure there would be some pockets of resistance, but nothing like we see today

Sure it would have. If no one had stepped in to help Poland, Austria, and most of the rest of Europe WW2 would have been over fairly quickly.

Latest Perun... Russia still doesn't know what a pallet is, and corruption worked in Ukraine's favor with the first three munitions storage sites were hit. Being nuke proof in Russia is not even drone proof.

Lima and his cronies keep telling us what a marked advantage Russia has in air defences. And how the 400 series is superior to Patriot. And how the great Russian industrial production might greatly exceeds the West.

Meanwhile, Ukraine is strapping fuel barrels into the back seat of Cessna 152s. And flying them 1000 miles into the most heavily populated areas of Russia, including around Moscow. At a mind numbing 110 knots and 200 feet over the trees.

Where they are destroying Russian ammo depots and air bases.

After a while, you wonder whether they even believe their own bullshite?

Other than there being a factually confirmed Nazi regiment in Ukraines military, this war has literally no comparisons to WW2

I mean other than the whole despot leading an aggressive invasion of his neighbors territory while the west tries to appease them for years until it becomes obvious that won’t work. Besides that you are right zero similarities. Oh and the whole switching to bombing population centers instead of military targets thing but I digress.

Well we now know, thanks to Tucker, that the Nazis in world war 2 were actually the victims whereas here they forced a poor innocent country into invading them, so yea, there’s really no comparison.

Ovenight, Russians attacked Zaporizhzhia with more than 10 guide bombs, specifically targeting residential areas.

Wasting ordinance on people and property that are of no military threat is foolish terrorism.

So, all they have to do is arrest anybody they feel has committed a "crime" and offer them the choice of a Siberian Gulag for life or going to the front lines.

I don't doubt that, but very intelligent people can be wrong about many things. They think if they believe something, it obviously can't be ridiculous, right?

ISW Update Sept 29th

quote:

Key Takeaways:

Western countries continue to invest in the growth of Ukraine's defense industrial base (DIB).

Ukrainian forces reportedly struck a Russian ammunition depot and missile storage facility near Kotluban, Volgograd Oblast on September 29.

The Russian government is reportedly planning to further increase defense spending in 2025, although Kremlin officials appear to be highlighting planned social spending while avoiding discussions of increased defense spending.

Ukrainian forces recently advanced in Glushkovsky Raion, west of the Ukrainian salient in Kursk Oblast.

Russian forces recently advanced in the Toretsk and Pokrovsk directions.

Well, there is at least one comparison - the one I made, which is that both wars saw aggressors invade countries that had no hope without assistance from others. That comparison is plain as day; I can’t imagine why you would contest it.

Israel is showing those weak losers in DC how to win/fight a war.

Invasion of Lebanon coming. Stay tuned.

While Biden/Harris is helpless/furious at their inability to stop them as they watch Ukraine crumble.
