I get why you mock the slow rate of Russian advance but isn't Ukraine supposed to be moving the Russians back into Russia?
The Russians are too entrenched and fortified in Eastern Ukraine (mostly thanks to that window given to them by Congressional Republicans holding up aid for months, causing Ukraine to run out of ammo)... Ukraine going on the offensive there will just result in tons of casualties. And the Russian method of advancement is a combination of high-loss "meat wave" infantry attacks and shelling the towns into total rubble, so that the Ukrainian troops have no cover left and have to abandon them or just be sitting ducks.
quote:
What is the plan for that? I know Ukraine had high hopes for a big offensive last year but it went the wrong way as I recall.
Ukraine has wisely come to the decision that a big offensive push in the East, as long as Russia has ammo, is foolish.
quote:
What is the Ukraine plan for victory or for at least halting the slow Russian advances?
The plan seems to be bombing Russian ammo storage and aircraft storage inside Russia, and once that shortage reduces Russian capabilities on the front, I'd assume they take advantage of that with an offensive push of some sort.
Zelensky presented a plan for Victory to Western officials, Biden, and Harris and Trump (if he hasn't done it already, he's supposed to, soon)... and all of them but Trump has approved it. So there is one.
I hope Trump doesn't pass it on to Putin, whatever it is... or blurt it out at a rally... if that's an unreasonable fear, then excuse me.

Russia is entrenched, but they have to defend their new positions. And Russia has been running on fumes. No need for Ukraine to overextend if they are able to contain Russian advancement to a snails pace right now. Can Russia keep it up?
Ukraine has been steadily attacking the Russian logistics and supply depots. Ukraine has been making advancements in their long range technology and has been seeing good results so far.
It is Russia is who is finding the need to answer more questions right now.
Sorry, I didn't update the page and only saw his questions, not you answer before I answered with the same thing...

If the only advantage is the entrenchment, then Ukraine should be able to counterattack and take the recently lost ground....... correct?
Its like some of you can't even comment objectively because you want to paint Ukraine in the best light possible, which makes people question whether you are really just someone interested in the conflict or someone with actual stakes in it personally..... "yeah they are losing, but its republicans fault and the only reason Russia is winning is because blah blah blah" is the same energy as "yeah we lost by 40 but they run a gimmicky offense"

Brings to mind a funny story.
A lawyer once asked Dr. Denton Cooley in open court if he considered himself to be the best heart surgeon in the world.
“Yes,” Cooley replied.
To which the lawyer asked if he thought this was being rather immodest.
“Perhaps,” Cooley responded,
“But remember, I’m under oath.”
O/T Heck of a workhorse back in the early days of heart surgery. He operated on a 2nd grade classmate to put a dacron patch between two heart chambers. The kid had large oxygen cylinders at home before then and was pale and weak. A year afterwards, active as could be in any sport and boisterous. He did have a heart attack almost 60 years later but is doing fine.

It was the South where they were too entrenched and all of the West was just trickling in aid tepidly in 2022. Not just entrenched but extremely deep minefields like never anywhere before Summer 2023. Same entrenchment with dragon's teeth along the border in Kursk, but without the massive minefields were easily defeated.

For the record I support Ukraine, I blame Russia for this war, but I know Ukraine is in jeopardy.

History will remember it just the way I said it, because it's true:
The Economist: House Republicans are helping Vladimir Putin
Politicians OFTEN put winning the next election above solving problems. Yet this week Republicans in the House of Representatives went a step further and sabotaged their own policy priorities to hurt President Joe Biden.

The same with Russia being able to counterattack and take the recently lost ground in Kursk, right? Why haven't they just done that?
Posted on 9/25/24 at 2:59 pm to Lee B
It made no sense to tie the continuing resolution to Ukraine. The CR should have been tied to ending Biden/Harris/dempro open borders.

So you want to change the argument?
Russia should be able to, right. They can't because their military is inept.
You made the claim Russia has only defended as well as they have because Republicans gave them time to dig in. Back it up or shut up.

US to announce $8 billion military aid package when Zelensky visits White House, Reuters reports
by Abbey Fenbert September 25, 2024 11:06 PM
The United States is preparing a military aid package for Ukraine worth over $8 billion, Reuters reported on Sept. 25, citing two U.S. officials.
The U.S. plans to announce the new aid package when President Volodymyr Zelensky visits the White House on Sept. 26, officials said.
U.S. President Joe Biden has been working with Congress to extend $5.8 billion in military funding for Ukraine before it expires at the end of September. A second announcement on Sept. 26 will allocate $2.4 billion under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative.

Lee, Ukraine has lost territory in recent months at the greatest rate in two years. You need to accept that fact

No, I made the claim that Russia has only had a big offensive breakthrough window during a specific period of time where aid was withheld. The calendar backs that up.
You disprove it.

Negative. Hence the legislation passed regarding elections.

Exclusive: Iran brokering talks to send advanced Russian missiles to Yemen's Houthis, sources say
UNITED NATIONS, Sept 24 (Reuters) - Iran has brokered ongoing secret talks between Russia and Yemen's Houthi rebels to transfer anti-ship missiles to the militant group, three Western and regional sources said, a development that highlights Tehran's deepening ties to Moscow.
Seven sources said that Russia has yet to decide to transfer the Yakhont missiles – also known as P-800 Oniks - which experts said would allow the militant group to more accurately strike commercial vessels in the Red Sea and increase the threat to the U.S. and European warships defending them.

I do, That's relative, isn't it... "the greatest rate in two years." And isn't it also relative as far as the method that accomplished it, and other factors?

Just a handful were stopping funding because Ukraine. Biden allowed allocated funding to expire before spending by the Fall of 2022. What was NOT supplied were in 2022 which would have made a difference in 2023 was F-16's, breaching equipment, etc...
The real issue with GOP was, "Where is the fricking plan for Ukraine to win?" though it was put more politely than actually meant. The Biden Admin has NEVER shown the plan for Ukraine to win, NEVER, NOT ONCE, NIL, NONE, SQUAT, ZERO
