You are correct, but you would lose the military guys that speak mainly of military things and keep the idiots. We kept them off for the first third of the topic, but a few military guys gave in and they have contaminated the thread and pretty much ruined it.

Thanks Lee, Im sure thats real comforting to the ukranians who will soon be freezing their arses off in the dark.

The Ukranian Constitution suspends elections in time of war, which is actually smart and pragmatic.
I'm just going to make a Samuel L. Jackson meme to have ready to post every time someone says this like it's some violation of democracy,,,
And why no mention of the fact that Russian elections are completely rigged so that Putin wins?
Another bold strategy, so its okay that we have mail in ballots with no signature checks here in the US......cause well, Russia does not have fair elections either

Ole Wee wee,
Hows that defense of Pokrovsk going my friend. 5 kilometers and closing.
Could have sure used those 15,000 wasted troops up in Kursk, disgusting waste of human beings for a publicity stunt.

Isw update Sept 24th
quote:
Key Takeaways:
Russian forces have reached the outskirts of Vuhledar amid what appears to be an intensified offensive push near the settlement, but the capture of Vuhledar is unlikely to afford Russian forces any particular operational edge for further offensive operations in western Donetsk Oblast.
Recent Ukrainian strikes against Russian rear ammunition depots demonstrate the extent to which Russian military logistics still benefit from Western-provided sanctuary that secures Russia’s rear.
Russia continues to expand and leverage its bilateral relations with the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in order to support its war effort in Ukraine.
The Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) has failed to appease the Russian ultranationalist milblogger community by downplaying the Russian military command’s responsibility for its insistence on misusing technical specialists in infantry-led frontal assaults in eastern Ukraine.
Ukrainian forces recently advanced west of the Kursk Oblast salient.
Ukrainian forces recently advanced within Vovchansk and in eastern Toretsk.
Russian opposition outlet Meduza, citing its own conversations with various unspecified Russian officials close to the Russian Presidential Administration, an interlocutor in the federal government, and regional officials, reported on September 24 that mobilization is a very sensitive topic among Kremlin officials.

We’re a former English colony, one that was settled by largely Englishmen, and our success stems from that English culture that our ancestors passed down to us, our belief in values like tolerance and fair play, it also stems from the unusual human potential of our ancestors. They were exceptionally capable people. Of course we also have a large Black population due to slavery as well.
Insofar as we’re a country of immigrants, post 1790, we’re a country of Christian European immigrants. And that’s worked, for the most part, because our values and world views were fairly similar. That’s not to say assimilation was easy, the integration of German Americans was actually difficult. But we were still able to sustain our success and maintain a relatively homogenous identity on a national level. Tribalism wasn’t a problem for us.
Mass migration disrupts our culture though, and brings tribal factionalism. And we gain nothing from, for example, bringing in largely unemployable Haitians with IQs in the sixties.
quote:
America has thrived because we have embraced all cultures.
It’s only led to social retrenchment and distrust. Putnams conclusions are what they are.
quote:
Right, unfettered immigration does make it unsafe.
The reason Haiti is poor and violent, is because of the people who live there. India has sky high rates of rape, because of the men who live there. The Arab world also has problems with sexual violence, and now that so many live in Europe, Europe also has a problem with sexual violence, and it’s everywhere from Sweden, to the UK, to Germany and France.
All a giant pile of steaming bullshite... but I don't want to help you derail this thread any longer and you and anyone who agrees with you won't listen to facts that contradict your biases and prejudices anyway and sensible and informed people know better already.

We don't have mail-in ballots with no verification of some sort in the US.
Which states are you alleging didn't require signature checks where it made a difference in the election result?
For 2020, 31 states had laws requiring signature matching, including some key battlegrounds where Trump and his allies disputed the results. The 31 are Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington and West Virginia.
States without signature matching requirements use other processes to verify absentee ballots, which may include providing photocopies of ID documents when returning the ballot, getting the ballot envelope signed by a witness, getting the ballot envelope notarized, or some combination of these steps.

At least one complete power plant was dismantled (this one from Lithuania) and re-erecting in Ukraine. Ukraine used to sell power to Western Europe, maybe Orban's nuts will freeze off (if he has any) after his natural gas is cut off

This is an interesting thread about the future of drone warfare.
Swarms of small drones controlled by AI...nightmarish. The US needs to figure out a counter to this quickly.

I’ve been wondering about what a Trump victory would mean. If Harris wins, the war doesn’t stop, and I expect the Russians would eventually occupy almost the entire country. Although they wouldn’t annex all of that.
A Harris victory is actually bad for Ukraine.
If Trump wins, he’s promised to end the war, the following statement is I assume the Russian statement on that.
We don’t know what they mean by regime, but it’s logically not just the current government but the right wing nationalist parties as well. And they would presumably demand a new constitution that would neuter Ukraine. It’s hard to imagine that they wouldn’t demand more territorial concessions as well.
Would Trump actually sign off on that?

quote:I guess the answer depends on the question posed. e,g., How can policy alter population size?
so "the" answer is to limit women's choices?
But for clarity, my response was an explication as to why things are as they are, rather than any answer as to how to change them.
quote:LOL. No. No more than we should concomitantly reduce society and women's opportunities to something resembling Niger, Somalia, Congo, Mali, Chad, etc.
reduce them solely breeding stock?
