Maybe this was you, but would love to hear from whoever was saying “they are going to run out of barrels in a year” for 2-3 months

A deal was offered with America, UK and other NATO allies to guarantee Ukraine's independence if they gave up those nukes. They gave them up, but given some of our current short memories, perhaps they shouldn't have trusted us.

Probably not, and they also probably shouldn’t expect us to protect them indefinitely either if they had any sense. Our last four elections counting the likely outcome in November are ping-ponging back and forth so hard on the left-right scale that countries with realistic leadership should know what they are getting into when making a deal with the US. Maybe we honor it, maybe not.

Not meaning to further derail the thread (which I will not do from now on)... but no, we're not stuck with him. He's no longer running for a second term.

And you'll still vote Democrat because you're insane.

Russia is NOT going to "run out" of artillery. Not at all. But Russia has recently sent large numbers of M-46 guns (first manufactured in 1951) to the front. It stands to reason that the Russian military would prefer to be using newer, better artillery pieces.

They've already robbed a lot of tubes to replace worn out tubes. I seriously doubt they know what cosmoline is for preserving stored equipment. It they do know what it is, then its stolen and sold to those preserving industrial equipment and parts

They use it plenty. Oil, bees wax, and grease. I've seen it plenty on old Russian mil surplus. It's been around for more than a century.

They are known for storing huge quantities of old stuff in caves. They'll grab whatever it is with a forklift and box it up.

No it is a nightmare for Ukraine if Harris wins. Remember how she was sent to the last minute negotiations to stop the war? Such an embarrassment and such a weak leader. I do not care how good of a blow job she gives it will be Ukraine who gets f**ked if she wins.

Key Takeaways:

Russian State Duma Chairperson Vyacheslav Volodin recently visited Nicaragua and Cuba, likely as part of ongoing Kremlin efforts to project its influence in the Western hemisphere and rally states against the US and the West.

The Georgian State Security Service (SUS or SSSG) reportedly recently summoned several Georgian citizens, who had served as volunteers alongside Ukrainian forces, for questioning on charges of "conspiracy to overthrow the government" and "terrorism."

Geolocated imagery confirms that a Ukrainian drone strike damaged infrastructure at the Millerovo Airbase in Rostov Oblast overnight on July 19 to 20.

Russian forces recently advanced near Avdiivka.

Russian forces conducted missile and drone strikes against Ukraine overnight on July 20 to 21.

Russian federal subjects are intensifying non-standard monetary incentives for contract service with the Russian military.

Trump’s priority if he is re-elected will be to end the war. I don’t think he really cares how the war ends. He wants to deliver a conclusion to the world.

JD Vance is among the most anti-Ukraine and anti-NATO (assuming you believe anything that chameleon says) senator.

Harris will be the continuation of an administration interested in arming and supporting Ukraine.

You really think Harris is worse for Ukraine than Trump?

I for one do think she will be worse. She has shown zero leadership skills at all during her entire political career, even worse than Biden.

Trump's only complaint is that the widened invasion should have never happened and why he mentions the money being spent. He was behind aid packages being passed and even called on the House to separate the border legislation from the aid packages. They never would have passed if he had lifted a finger to have them killed.

Trump did sign off on two nations joining NATO, his problem is with the freeloaders. Yes, many European nations take the US for granted and have since WWII. We due have gratitude for the Dutch bankers of the late 1700's who loaned money to the Continental Congress. They have aligned with US foreign policy more than anyone else in the EU.

Fair enough. I largely assume Harris would present a status quo with respect to Ukraine and Russia.

Trump . . . I just don’t know. I hear your points but he did just pick a VP that is a biolab short of being a real life poli-board poster when it comes to Ukraine.

And Trump is just very transactional. Our support of Ukraine does venture into greater global good territory and I’m not sure Trump cares about that. If he can strike a deal for a few hostages and a Russian ceasefire he will, even if it means Russia keeping its conquest with free reign to reload on the border.

British Defence Intelligence
INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
UPDATE ON UKRAINE 22 July 2024

It is highly likely that over 30,000 Rosgvardiya (Russian National Guard) personnel are currently deployed to Ukraine. The majority of Rosgvardiya's personnel are almost certainly conducting rear area security operations, with only a few units engaging in frontline fighting.

Rosgvardiya's premiere combat unit, the 116th Special Purpose Brigade, highly likely consists of 3 regiments of troops, with access to tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and artillery.

Since the start of 2024, Rosgvardiya has almost certainly attempted to increase its frontline forces through absorbing Russian irregular formations. Rosgvardiya successfully integrated the Donetsk People's Republic Vostok Battalion into its ranks during May 2024. It is highly likely that the anticipated agreement for Wagner forces to serve under Rosgvardiya's 1st Volunteer Corps broke down in March 2024.

Ukrainian intelligence drones attack oil refinery in Russia's Tuapse

VALENTYNA ROMANENKO — Monday, 22 July 2024, 08:54

Ukrainian military intelligence drones attacked an oil refinery in the Russian city of Tuapse in Krasnodar Krai on the night of 21-22 July, causing a fire.

Source: Ukrainska Pravda source at Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU)

Details: The drones were detected in the sky over Tuapse at around 03:30 local time. Local news outlets reported that during the first wave of the attack, Russian air defence tried to shoot down four kamikaze drones. Later, at around 06:25, at least two more powerful explosions were heard in the area of the refinery, after which a fire broke out at the facility.

In total, at least eight UAVs were reported to have attacked the refinery. Russia Today, a Kremlin-aligned Russian news outlet, reported that the strike damaged the refinery's infrastructure.

The Ukrainska Pravda source added that the extent of damage to Russia’s defence industrial base is currently being clarified.

For reference: The Tuapse Oil Refinery is a Russian oil refinery in Krasnodar Krai, operated by RN-Tuapse Oil Refinery LLC. The refinery is a single production facility with a marine terminal for Rosneft's oil product supply company, RN-Marine Terminal Tuapse LLC.

The refinery is part of the Rosneft oil company and has an annual capacity of about 12 million tonnes.

Comparable in crude oil throughput in between Phillips66 Lake Charles and Shell Norco, though not as complex as either.

It was hit on January 24th, the first of them to be hit.

It WAS the oldest refinery in Russia but basically a new refinery after the 2011 expansion and upgrading.

Edit for clarity

Biden's policy has been to fight Russia until the last Ukrainian dies. Remember it was Biden and his advisors who delayed sending tanks to Ukraine, delayed sending F16s to Ukraine, stopped the Polish Mig deal, and refused to send ATACAMs to Ukraine. If Harris continues Biden's policies then at best Ukraine fights until it runs out of men. If Harris is more incompetent that Biden which I believe is likely than Ukraine fights until it runs out of men and women.
