Germany's military is a shite show. Woefully underfunded for the last 30+ years. To that...Germany with help of Russia invading Ukraine has become self aware of this and has recently earmarked almost 100 Billion Euro's to modernizing their military.

Denmark is financing 18 Ukrainian built 155 mm Bohdana self propelled howitzers. Ukraine currently can make around 10 of these systems per month. They need more countries to invest in Ukraine’s own defense industry to get its economy back pumping and artillery is one area they can never have enough dealing with Russia.

For example, the UK counts military retirement pensions towards their 2%.
That is a joke.
That's a big chunk of our own defense budget

A fast track pathway to US citizenship is by foreigners enlisting in the US military. I've met a few Arnold Schwarzenegger looking Germans in CA who went into the US Army. They would have enlisted 1990ish

NOBODY wanted a powerful German military. There might have been a couple of instances in the past where that did not turn out well.

WWII was won partially because of the Poles’ and later the Brit’s’ work breaking the German codes. Sharing intel amongst allies is vital.
Maybe the other NATO nations should do more to gather intel. Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania can’t contribute much to NATO due to their small size. However, their languages are similar enough to Russian that they could easily learn Russian (if they don’t already know it) and blend in with Russian customs. They could gather intelligence on Russian intentions as their contribution to NATO.
France and Germany and Italy could easily step up their intelligence against radical Islamic bad actors in their own borders.

I don’t think anyone would be opposed to Germany strengthening their military a little bit. Right now their planes have numerous problems keeping them from flying and its pilots aren’t getting enough flying time.

Exclusive: US and Germany foiled Russian plot to assassinate CEO of arms manufacturer sending weapons to Ukraine
US intelligence discovered earlier this year that the Russian government planned to assassinate the chief executive of a powerful German arms manufacturer that has been producing artillery shells and military vehicles for Ukraine, according to five US and western officials familiar with the episode.
The plot was one of a series of Russian plans to assassinate defense industry executives across Europe who were supporting Ukraine’s war effort, these sources said. The plan to kill Armin Papperger, a white-haired goliath who has led the German manufacturing charge in support of Kyiv, was the most mature.
When the Americans learned of the effort, they informed Germany, whose security services were then able to protect Papperger and foil the plot. A high-level German government official confirmed that Berlin was warned about the plot by the US.
For more than six months, Russia has been carrying out a sabotage campaign across Europe, largely by proxy. It has recruited local amateurs for everything from arson attacks on warehouses linked to arms for Ukraine to petty acts of vandalism — all designed to stymie the flow of weapons from the West to Ukraine and blunt public support for Kyiv.
But the intelligence suggesting that Russia was willing to assassinate private citizens underlined to Western officials just how far Moscow was willing to go in a parallel shadow war it is waging across the west.

People are okay with it now! Same as Japan...
But that wasn't the case in the past.
I can remember when the Berlin Wall fell and a lot of people did a "uh... wait a sec... this might be a bad idea" thing about reunification.
"Hey, did you hear that East and West Germany are reuniting? What a great idea! Why don't we get the Manson Family back together, too!!!"

Trumpistan only exists in your head and on the PT board.

Random thought. It would seem to be a good proving ground to add anti-drone technology to Leopards and Abrams since Russian drones have rendered them vulnerable.

until it does exist, right?
Or is saying if one side or the other wins everything will be awful and devastating just dumb hyperbole and nonsense? I forget... what's the rules about predictions in this stuff?

That’s because both the Ukrainians and Russians lack good communication systems. They are both using the civilian cellular network to communicate and that includes flying drones. If they turn off the cellular network or jam it then the drone operators can’t communicate with the drones to select targets. Israel has good military communication systems and it shuts down the cell network in Gaza. It hasn’t worked perfectly for Israel but it is better than nothing. Also the trophy APS system being installed on US and German tanks is much better than the Russians APS. Again not perfect but should add protection against drones for NATO tanks.

Well I doubt that we ever adapt Central Asian and Islamic customs which leads to countries ending in stan under Trump so Trumpistan is unlikely.
