Why is Russia currently engaging in such provocative behavior? Why aren't they looking for an off ramp and peace?
The clear answer is we need to invade Cuba and protect all the English speakers!
And they sent a NUCLEAR submarine!!!! OMG!!! This is getting good. I'm going to make some popcorn in my NUCLEAR microwave oven and watch how this unfolds!!!
And "they might set up a permanent military base in Cuba!!!"
That's just more checks to bounce from Moscow, more communications for the NSA to hack and observe, and more Russian military personnel for the CIA to bribe for information.

Russia has been in Cuba since JFK was president. This is nothing new.

Cuba is so desperate for either Aid or the removal of sanctions that they have been in a position to be pivoted since Fidel died (Raul doesn't really seem like as much of a hard arse, but he retired, anyway)...
The problem is that all the Batista-era ex-pats here will go back and think they can reclaim everything... and the Cubans HATE those people... there would be blood.

Oh, I know... nothing new, and nothing threatening...
and we've had a Naval Base there since the end of the Spanish-American War. Even though most people have heard of it, they somehow don't process it...

G7 agrees on transfer of $50 billion in profits from frozen Russian assets to Ukraine
The G7 has reached an agreement to provide Ukraine with $50 billion by the end of the year using profits from frozen Russian assets, the French presidency said on June 12 in comments reported by AFP.
"We have an agreement," a presidency official said, ahead of a G7 summit in Italy, which starts on June 13.

Maybe Ukraine can hire some experienced F16 pilots and maintenance crews.

Breaking up Russia has probably been our official policy goal since the early 2000s.
Mind providing a link to that? Since it is official policy and all, it should be easy to provide.
Anyone with a 10th grade Euro History class can tell you that Russia has been expanding and contracting for its entire history. It's a story of conquest, revolution, collapse, and rebuilding. Then, repeat. We don't need a foreign policy to let Russia do what Russia does best.

Russia now has ukraine with national black outs from 3 til 11 and I dont think its gonna get any better soon.....
What I dont understand is why they have power stations at all. Someone on this thread assured me every ukranian had a generator so it was no big deal.
Im sure all those people in kyiv sitting in the dark sweating their arses off drinking nasty water, they appreciate all the effort to secure kharkiv at their expense.

If Russia continues to attack power plants, the worst-case scenario is that come winter Ukrainians could be spending up to 20 hours a day without power and heating,

Vol, here is a Russian cheerleader for you. I don’t even have to find a link.

Congratulations??
Don't tell Sir Winston about this. It would crush his image of the Russian army as a bunch of Christian lads on a great crusade. He would be very disturbed to learn that targeting civilian electrical and heating plants was a war crime.

Playing with international banking, monetary standards, and financial law may seem superficially like a really cool idea. But in a 100% fiat world, with the US debt as it stands, the reality is it's playing with fire.

If tweet fails to load, click here. Well... that's a development... since Russia was stopping Azerbaijan from messing with Armenia over disputed areas, but Russia just withdrew (some? all?) troops from the disputed area... I guess Armenia is turning to Iran?

Russia in a desperate move to replace air defenses destroyed in Crimea has sent their only operational new S-500 Prometheus air defense system to the area.Sounds like one hell of a juicy target for ATACMS. One of these systems costs $2.5 billion dollars!!
