For starters, the million rounds is over time, not immediate.

Then, 2/3 of the 60 billion was to rebuild what Clinton and Obama destroyed in the US defense industry, not going to Ukraine at all

That total would mean the Russians had suffered more than 100% casualties. The invasion force itself was just 190k men, and it wasn't until this winter when the Russians outnumbered the Ukrainian. It's also illogical based on the Russian Armies defensive posture from the Fall of 22 to the Winter of 23/24, and the disparity in means between the two sides.

I think Kiev is inventing these numbers whole cloth because they're worried about losing Western support, and because they want to bolster domestic morale.


Mediazona has a Russian casualty tracker, it's based off of published obituaries, but they also try and estimate the actual death toll by looking at excess death figures in Russia. I assume we're funding it.

If Russian losses are (comparatively) low it means that we're being lied to. But that's normal these days, and not worth overthinking. This is not the same country we were born in.

If this is true it means Putin launched an invasion although he was outnumbered.

It also means it took two years for Russia to catch up in manpower.

Russia’s population is about 144 million. Ukraine’s is just under 38 million. Russia outnumbered Ukraine almost 4-1 yet it took two years for them to match Ukraine’s army?

I’m not saying the Ukraine casualty numbers seem correct because they appear to be severely inflated, but your numbers don’t make sense either.

The Ukrainians started with a larger force, and they were rushing to get as many men under arms as possible. Training was limited and you didn't get a lot of it. It's a war of survival.

I didn't understand it at the time, but in the Fall of 22, Putin decided that the war would not end quickly, and that they would need to shift to a genuine wartime economy, and dramatically increase the size of the armed forces. And they didn't shortchange the training process to get there, they slowly built up the army, month by month. They were very patient. That's why they weren't going on the offensive. They didn't have the numbers for it.
